Heheh, yeah! I listened to the scene in Japanese where Asuka first starts up her Eva (while she's speaking German), and it sounds like Yuko Miyamura is having a hell of a time trying to say that stuff. I mean, it's not her fault... German is at the end of the language spectrum when you're Japanese, so... but still, it's funny. XD

yeah that's very funny..

That's probably the only situation in which I greatly appreciate the dub.

Guys, it means first (as in the first kill/frag for the day.... - I wasn't keen on finding out if someone actually already wrote this...) one was close, but that it is the first is more correct.

Erste is ordinal, cannot be one. One is "einz".

Eins, I thought.

Oddly, the script for EoE says that Asuka is saying "Erst", with no "e" at the end.

Gragh... if this conversation had been made about... 10 years ago, I'd totally know everything and not have to resort to Babelfish. >.>

So "erste" came up meaning "first," while "erst" means "only."

And one is spelled "ein." Maybe because "zwei" comes after it, it sounds like a liason between the two.

Yeah, it's been some long years since I stopped my 10 years of german studies. But one thing is clear, ordinal and numeral are quite different.

Yeah, can you imagine Asuka's line being translated, "What are you, a jive-assed turkey?"

I would have had Asuka swearing during the fight with a Cuban accent, like Al Pacino in SCARFACE: "'Ey fuck joo man!" "I bury da cock-a-roaches!" "Joo wanna go to war, I take joo to war, okay?" "Say hello to my LEETLE friend!"

IT's the character f that movie that's cuban. I wonder, is that the same one where they put Fats Porcel as the owner of that bar? He really does NOT have cuban accent.

Even if Lil' Kim played her, it would sound retro. I bring it up because Lil' Kim is one of the few people in real life to dress like a bishojo anime character. Plus she's about Asuka's height.
