ok, in the episode with the PRE-Angel, we all know that Unit 02 goes down to retrieve the egg, but it goes wrong and attacks her
well, after the Angel is dead Asuka starts falling, but then Unit 01 jumps in and grabs her.
but Unit 02 was rapidly compressing due to the pressure, but Unit 01 wasnt.
why?

Unit 02 would blend in the lava and be lost forever. In contrast, purple never works well with red in any situation. Unless it's the 80's.

Unit 02 was being retracted upward. Sandalphon slashed her pipes just prior to being destroyed. The only plausible explanation is that afterwards Unit 02 was reeled upwards enough that Unit 01 could safely jump in and not be affected by the pressure.

You'd think that, in theory, an Eva using her ATF properly wouldn't feel a thing down in that magma. Their relly Sandalphon appears to have been living there quite happily for some time.
