The Cartoon Network has NO friggin' idea what they were messing with showing Eva. They need to start showing it on Adult Swim, and pronto. Toonami was never the place for it, which I guess is what they realized right quick and pulled it.

It actually was on Adult Swim for a while. I remember seeing the episode with Armisael on there. That was at least two years ago, though.

really it was on AS? Damn I didn't know they had the rights to that, and here I am stuck watching the same episodes of Cowboy Bebop and GITS and FMA and all the "new" episodes on Bleach that I've already read in the manga like a year ago.

From 2005-10-21 to 2006-04-21. It was like a once a week thing, dubbed. I think it started on Thursdays after midnight, then ended up late Saturdays (also after midnight). EoE was actually broadcast on the cable channel "Encore" a few times in 2005 before the TV series aired on Adult Swim. It was Encore's "action" channel. I managed to randomly catch it on Encore one night, pretty sure it was unedited, and it was the dub.

ahh, yeah. lots of our member's parents had issues with that as well, along with the "gore" factor.

that's how it is here too! XD i go into FYE and i'm looking at Death Note plushies and boxsets, and then i walk down two steps and i'm like oh, hi Ron Jeremy.. uhm.. -backs away- it's really awkward, i can atest.

and that is a good price! wow. haha i loved that episode, everytime i watch it i think "DDR looks so weird without the TV. i wonder where Misato got that.." i also kinda wish Pen Pen had got a chance at it. it'd be adorable.

Yea haha that's my favorite episode I think. Just because it's almost completely light hearted the whole time. The only serious part is when Asuka lays down next to Shinji and starts crying for her mom... :(

Yea FYE is where I meant haha I don't get why they equate anime with porn when it comes to selections. What I really don't get is why the anime is back in the corner all hidden away, but the porn and stuff (which doubles the anime section in size) is farther down the isle next to death metal and stuff. Weird weird weird

yeah, mine too--i love the scenes of them doing everything together in those matching outfits x3 and i felt so bad for Asuka at that part! i wanted to hug her.

haha yeah i guess some higher up must think it's really pervy? maybe he just saw La Blue Girl and then decided to stock the popular titles.. >_> but in mine it's like anime-->leading into the corner, porn-->just past the corner, posters-->stuffed animals.
it's a weird weird path we must go on for our obsessions, isn't it?

Hahaha yes indeedy. At mine they just have a crap load of posters then anime and a bunch of plush toys (I got a Kuchiki and a Kisuke) and a bunch of DBZ t-shirts and a few really random volumes of manga, like Berzerk 7-11 or like one volume of Fruits Basket

I still remember when NGE was on Adult Swim was well when the first episode came out on CN back in 2005. I was watching DBZ uncut then the first episode of NGE show up, and I was like "I remember this show as a kid".

I still wish they would play NGE on TV sometimes.

You guys actually; indirectly. You see, I talked to two members who posted here on Skype, and they did not hide their love for Evangelion. Well, one day on AIM, one of them showed me episode 24 and End of Evangelion. I saw parodies of the show in the past, I knew some elements of the show already, and I always wanted to see it (one of my original reasons to watch the show was to find the nudity), so I shrugged and went with it. What resulted were events that I had no idea what I just saw. That made me go, "okay, I have to watch the rest of this now," so I did. That eventually lead me to "The Eva Monkey", buying the Perfect Collection (only copy too), and then lurking around here.

I wish my story was a little bit like everyone's stories, but that's how I got into it.

saw it in the early 2000s as a 7 year old kid. still have random recollections that doesn't quite match up, like gendo walking over the threshold of a door, causing a blood red unit 01 with a thick horn enthroned on a chair to get up and walk out, as well as arael hanging sideways off of the planet like in retake.
probably mixed up with other memories.
well, last year or so, searching for...stuff...and, lo and behold, came across a picture of Asuka and Rei tied up in their plugsuits and suspended from the ceiling. i instantly remembered 'that show that i never could forget or really remember'-tian ying zhan shi, as the chinese read, and as the word evangelion was on the picture, i typed it in, found the wikipedia page, then evageeks, evamade, and lemontastica. rehooked instantly

I first heard of Evangelion when looking over the titles on an anime shelf at a friend's house. He told me it was a pretty good show and that I should look it up on YouTube. I did and fell in love around episode 5 or 6. Decided to peruse the shelf of used DVDs at my local comic book store, and found the Perfect Collection for around $85. I'm basically a poor college student, but you bet I bought it that day =)

Since then I've tracked down End of Evangelion and Evangelion 1.0, and tried to rope friends into watching it with me, good times!
I wish LCL could be grape-flavored

Started with EoE...forst thing that came to my mind was a buttload of confusion at what I was watching, and then I saw the Eva-02 fight. My jaw hit the floor right then and there, let me tell you. Later on, I found out about the series when it aired on Adult Swim. Went to see the first movie in NYC, saw the second one over the summer, been a diehard fan ever since, and it's all thanks to the most confusing movie I've seen out of context.

I first got into Neon Genesis Evangelion last July. I had heard a lot of good things about it on another forum, so I decided to rent it on Netflix on a whim. Before then, I wasn't really into anime aside from some Miyazaki films and Akira. The first two discs I was entertained, but not overly impressed. The animation was nice, and the fanservice was hard not to enjoy, but it wasn't the masterpiece it was made out to be. Don't worry, I love these episodes now.

On Disc 3, I started to realize that there was more to this series than I first assumed. Rei's monologue in Episode 14 was particularly interesting, as I really enjoy philosophical pyshcobabble, and I was curious if this show would continue to go down this route. Disc 4 confirmed that belief, as I was won over by the intense drama and character analysis. Let me just say that my initial reaction to Episode 19 was the same as everybody else's. On Disc 5, the series had come to a close, and I understood why it was so acclaimed. The last two episodes at first frustrated and challenged me, but even then the fact that Anno had the balls to go down this route meant something.

Finally, I had to go with the grand finale- The End of Evangelion. The result? To call me blown away would be an understatement. I was shaking as I walked towards the DVD player to press the eject button. The next few days I could only lay on my bedroom floor and stare at the ceiling. This is more than just an excellent anime, this was art to the highest degree. Afterwards, I had no choice but to buy the series, and let's just say the rest is history.
Evangelion extends life. Evangelion expands consciousness.

I first got into NGE due to a friend’s suggestion. I’m well known there for being a philosophic naval gazer with a mild interest in anime (Fullmetal Alchemist & Monster mainly) and I kept hearing about this show for about three months and was constantly reminded of how much I would love it if I went in with an open mind…long story short, I loved it.

The psychology, the symbolism, the characters, [s:289n16z4]the fanservice[/s:289n16z4], pretty much most everything about the show intrigued me. I thought to myself 'this is almost perfect.' I defiantly owe my friend one.

In retrospect, the first time I saw NGE, it was quite nonsensical. It was in an episode of "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series" called "Abridged 101". The episode was about how to make an abridged series, and the example anime was Neon Genesis Evangelion...it was described as "one of the most famous anime ever made", so I thought "Famous anime? Why haven't I seen it?!" And I watched the whole franchise (and continue to do so).
Ritsuko: It can't be...an Angel devoured an Eva? That's impossible!
Maya: That's strange. The target's identification signal is turning into Zerogouki's!

Before I watched eva, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. I appreciated the show before I watched it funnily enough. I knew the action was top notch, I knew it would blow my mind, and I actually collected a fair share of eva merchandise before I even watched an episode. I wanted everything to be perfect. I waited for the perfect day, the perfect time and then I watched it.
