Maybe he wants to prove that he can do it too. Maybe he believes the problems with piloting are offset by the chance to pilot a giant robot-like thing and save the world. Maybe Kensuke isn't immature for misunderstanding the problems of Eva pilots, but is actually very mature for being able to look at the bigger picture; that sacrifices need to be made in order to protect humanity, and he's willing to make those sacrifices.

Actually, the episode 21' and episode 26'/EoE lakeside flashbacks with Fuyutsuki, Yui and little Shinji show that Yui went into Eva of her own accord. Fuyutsuki was the only one who knew this.

Oh, sorry! I must of misunderstood that part. I had assumed that the good doctor had set it up so that Yui was put into the Eva and Yui just decided to stay there...scratch that last part!

Of course everything was planned from the beginning it its alright by i dont like them.

Kaji....hes so stock.

I didn't like Kaji during the first couple episodes he appeared in, but he grew on me. At first, he seemed like just a handsome guy who takes advantage of women and is a bit arrogant. As the series began to reveal more of his true self though, he seemed more heroic (in an everyday kind of way, if that makes sense).

Least favorite character...hmmmm...it would be one of these two:
Kensuke's pretty annoying.
Naoko is a total dick to a lot of people.

How can you possibly hate Asuka? If she was only slightly less of a bitch, I wouldn't like her, but she goes way, WAY over the top with her bitchery, and it's hilarious.

Frankly, I hate Gendo. He's a stereotypical anime villain in a universe where stereotypical anime villains are really, really out of place.

Naoko may have the same effect Kaji had on you. She might not be as big as a bitch as she was portrayed in that one episode. It's hard to pick favorites and least favorites based on one or two episodes.

Hmm that's true. We were only given those few scenes that depict Naoko's personality, and those scenes only showed her bitch-side. Strangling Rei I to death, jealousy and dislike of Yui, (as Magi) choosing Gendo over her daughter. The only other things we know about her is that she was a brilliant scientist, and had okay 'regular' conversations with her daughter. Perhaps if we had been given more insight into her....

If anyone in NGE is stereotyped and villainous, it's the Seele members. Gendo just does ruthless things in order to hold the world together until he can get his Yui back.

I think there are too many characters that suffered from lack of development - namely Kaji, Seele, Toji, Naoko, and Hikari. But I think for 26 episodes the development given to relatively large cast is tremendous anyway and to fit any more it would've required more eps.

Seriously? If I was an ancient guy with nothing better to do than either wait to die or plot some outlandish immortality scheme I would -totally- be into the dark room and monolith's thing. Pretty hard to look imposing when you can barely hold yourself up, ya know?
