Bringing the topic back just for the hell of it, I guess the only problem I have with Mana (despite already being pro-Shinji/Asuka, so I guess I'm already biased in that sense) is that not only WAS she a spy as Asuka thought all along (and more or less used Shinji in that sense) but also as soon as her boyfriend from that Trident group showed up, she ran back to his arms, completly blowing off Shinji! (Does kinda suck how in ending 2, I think, she says that he didn't make it/died, but still...)

All the more reason for Shinji to stick with Asuka, I'd say. He wouldn't have to worry about her leaving him for someone else.
(Yeah, Asuka likes Kaji, too, but obviously that's unrequited.)
