Their younger self look very good in their new uniforms! This pic confirms what everyone already know: Misato with long wavy hair is best Misato!
I hope for them that they actually have summer uniform for when the Wunder isn't in the Poles!

Rei could clearly use some help picking out non-uniform clothes. That isn't working for her at all. She looks like an exceptionally tall toddler caught playing dress-up.

And Kaworu... are you seriously wearing sweats with a dress shirt? I don't care if comfy pants are the height of lillim culture, you just don't do that man.

Rei with baggy and comfortable clothes, Asuka with a jacket reminiscent of a jet pilot jacket, Shinji in casual, Kaworu trying to be classy, but failing with one detail... somehow that fit them perfectly.

The only really weird choice is for Mari.

That's not possible. Impact summer came because the planet's axial tilt was zeroed; if you increase that to maximum, you don't get winter, you get a planet with a really fucked-up day/night cycle.

It's technically possible, for a different reason than axial tilt. We've had ice ages in the past while still having the same axial tilt as we do now. There could be a load of other ways an impact can mess up the atmosphere and land to the point where we end up reflecting more heat back into space and chilling down. We've had mini ice ages because of massive volcano eruptions. An impact has a lot more...impact...so who knows?

Personally I'm fine with post-3I perma-winter because picture of character wearing cozy clothes can be kawaii as fuck.

For those curious, that's a katakana phonetic approximation of the English "fucking hot" with a Japanese translation beneath it "kuso atsui".

I don't believe I've ever seen an English-to-Japanese translation in Japanese before. So that's how a Japanese would translate the English "fucking"? Somehow it tells me a lot -- like how limited Japanese vulgarity must be if they use the same word to approximate English's Big Mother of Them All as they do casual swears in shows for little boys.

I love stockpiling these for possible fanfic use, or just to stare at them ocassionally/fanservice value. Only Asuka ever really wears something other than her uniforms and plugsuit...

Mari's and Rei's outfits, in particular, are so very them.

For what it's worth, the early scenes show the Wunder in a hole in a frozenbody of water/ snow storm, and the random people outside are thickly packaged, although that could just be because of contamination.

They don't have any vulgarity per se, just impolite expressions. "Shit" really is their strongest swearword. Could be the reason why, in a certain recent anime, there was a Japanese character who swore by dropping an undubbed F-bomb in English instead of using a native phrase.

And yeah, I can totally understand why the picture's creator picked that exact phrase...
