I felt the same way when I first saw it. Actually, it took me a few moments to recognize that it was indeed Gendo. It was mainly because he actually looked... happy about something.

Booru protip: you can filter out NSFW (or SFW :P) content by adding one of the following phrases to the end of your search parameters:

rating:safe
rating:questionable
rating:explicit

Additionally, append a minus sign to the beginning of the rating to exclude said rated content, and include all else.

About time Gendo lost the chinstrap, if you ask me. If Abraham f'ing Lincoln couldn't make it work, what chance did Gendo ever have? :)

Also, I'm kind of surprised by the naive confusion over why girls are appearing in a razor ad. Girls use razors. Legs, underarms, and hell, just about everything else these days. (It's my understanding that the latter category hasn't yet caught on in Japan the way it has in the West, but that may be changing).

This was yet another of those bits of culture that the Japanese borrowed from China -- by custom, prostitutes depilated. Thus going paipan has shameful connotations, rather than just being a fashion, or even a matter of religious ritual, as it is elsewhere in the world.

In general, the Japanese don't grow anywhere near as much body hair as us round-eyed devils.

Anyway, why are Gendo and Rei smiling? Rei, I can sort of understand (although she never goes beyond that adorable little moe-smile) but GENDO?
