His infodump in 3.0 is ambiguous, he seems like he's doing it out of a sense of personal guilt/honor/responsiblity. He clearly feels at least a bit sorry for Shinji, and probably feels he owes it to Yui and/or Yui's son.

If I remember correctly, there is a scene where Fuyutsuki tells Gendo that if everything was explained to Shinji, the boy could willingly be on their side. Maybe that infodump was some attempt at it.

It's a very confusing set of conversations. All Fuyutsuki says on the matter to Gendo is that Shinji should know some truths and IIRC how Gendo lives too. I never really understood that particular line, nothing Fuyutsuki says to Shinji really shows how Gendo "lives" day to day and only sheds some light on his father's motives. Fuyutsuki says afterwards that it's a wretched role he plays; Shinji is completely avoidant to the idea of piloting an Eva after that conversation, so whatever Fuyutsuki did had the opposite of benefiting Gendo even if things all went according to Gendo's plan anyways.

At least that's what Gendo says - if his plan simply was to make Unit 13 ascend to near godhood, then yes, all is going according to plan. Fuyutsuki points out that a lot went wrong when he says that "this is almost exactly what SEELE wanted". Gendo might just be putting on a stoic facade - we never see the bottom of his pants for a reason, I'd wager.

Been a while since i saw 3.0 but doesn't Fuyu tell Shinji that his father is willing to give up his soul for his goals?? That's a pretty concrete statement in regards to how Gendo functions.

About the merch thing, there's a difference between something created and afterwards marketing the bejebus out of it and something made just for the sake of it. Best example i can think of is the 3.0 suits vs the final ones (nonwhite version) and how that was changed just randomly.

Where’s the biohazard symbol? I don’t see it. I think you might just be seeing things.

The biohazard sign is in the middle of the Key of Nezzy's briefcase on the top lid. The suit briefcases next to Asuka and Mari are too obscured and lacking in any detail to have any identifiable markings on them.

I never imagined that Asuka and Mari would look so good in white, but I generally love the white design with rainbow colours, though this makes a weird parallel since they had Rei in black in the last one.

I think the original poster just saw the screenshot from 2.0 that was used for comparison, and mistakenly assumed it was from the new trailer.
