Anno tells us that Wille is strapped for resources and now we have like three suits in one movie? WTH!

Before they got Wunder working, yes, they were lacking resources, but now that they can freely fly with it, they can get supplies more often than before.

There also seems to be too much spectacle instead of character development and story.

I mean, most 3.0 trailers, like The Wrath of God teaser for example mainly had action and yet the movie focused more on other things besides action.

It looks like those theories on an "Evil Wundar" were not unfounded.

At any rate, each of the three movies had a completely different atmosphere/feeling from the others. With Shin being more of a "part 2" to Q, it'll be interesting to see if it keeps with the same feeling Q had or have some entirely different atmosphere to it.

Are we going to get Wunder vs Gunder senario?

The safe interpretation was that it was just tracking the Wunder as it flew into the distance round the vortex but now it looks like it's another Wunder coming head on in attack. (wild speculation time) maybe the Moon(s) in Rebuild come with a Wunder which acts like the spear of Longinus did in NGE, where it acts as a control/shut down mechanism?

Way late to this, but it's looking awesome! There's lots of new footage here and it does seem that the children's desert trip will be a big part of the film. Quite intrigued by all the new technology, Mari and Asuka teaming up with these intriguing plugsuits, Rei Q starting to have a personality, etc. Mari and Asuka straight-out dropping into the Chambers of Guf is by far the most intriguing thing here though. Interesting what the endgame here is...

Rei/Lilith going full red is an unsettling decision that will most likely have some big significance and NERV attacking WILLE with Mark.10 looks to be another big thing. (This is also probably the first time we see NERV actually attempting to destroy WILLE, considering that Mark.10 is another Eva, instead of these strange things we saw being employed against WILLE previously.) Things do seem to be entering the "epic finale" part.

First of all, every shot of Rei in this looks gorgeous, yes, even the sole red eye!
Second of all, of course the Trailer drops, when I went to sleep, missing the ruckus, lmao.
Thrice upon a Time the music is like honey in my ears, but metaphorical.

Asuka & Mari wearing matching white angelic plugsuits complete with rainbow graphics should dispel anyone hoping for a Shinji x Asuka pairing in the final film. She's moved past men.

That statement is such a vibe.

With this logic, Shinji is gay.

Maybe the impacts made everyone gay - nobody is willing to procreate. That would be *quite* the twist.
Seriously though, I don't think Eva will go any further than allusions to homosexuality or pairings (as every Anime does), the risk of lost revenue in merchandising would still be too high. Like remember the "Curse of Eva"?

Nice, I made a few remarks:

Interesting color parallels with Asuka and Mari. They're suiting up to save the world, in a well lit room, with bright white plugsuits. Kaworu and Shinji were wearing dark colored plugsuits, and we're descending to help Gendo destroy the world.

Oh, and it took about 7 years but we FINALLY get to see that hidden storyboard from the Shiro Sagisu video Peaceful Times in a finalized form.

Sheesh, time flies. To me the time between HA and Q feel as long as the wait between Q and Shin... Which is crazy, but just goes to show that time speeds up, once you reach 20, 25.
(Then again, I wasn't so fixated on Evangelion this past few years as I was between 2010 and 2013)

Also, crazy callback with the storyboards featured in Sagisu's short film actually coming to completion. Holy cow!

This looks like hot mess of merch and toy advertisement. I mean, three trailers and for all I saw it could be three totally different movies. There is no common theme to it. I am still going to see it is they don't move it even further and I live that long, but the joy is gone. Looks too chaotic and what is with merching all those different suits? Anno tells us that Wille is strapped for resources and now we have like three suits in one movie? WTH! There also seems to be too much spectacle instead of character development and story.

Not to dig up something three pages ago, but I kinda came late to this party. I just want to point out that we don't even have a full trailer yet. This teaser is meant to strictly push as many happy happy joy joy buttons as possible after months of COVID-related chaos and confusion, and it does that wonderfully. I'm sure the longer trailer will have something of more substance to it. In general, I can't think of a 2-hour Japanese animated film that's just all commercial pop and no solid substance, and Shin Eva is already clocked in at a minimal time of 2-hours, so statistically we're already on track for something great! Just sit back, let the teaser tickle you where you like it, find some joy and happiness in these dark and oppressive days, and look forward to something truly robust and rewarding come January 23.

I think Asuka in the red plug suit just happens before the white plugsuit in the movie, not in a flashback.

Also, that is the first scene in 3 movies with Mari physically in the same room with another character.

That is a very good catch!
On the topic of the second image, the first thing that sprung to my mind there was acually Gundam, in particular how some series do their atmospheric entries by having the mechs surf of enormous heat shields.

And speaking of Gundam, the Dark Wunder also reminds me of something

Throughout Gundam Seed, the protagonists are on a primarily white ship that does share a few similarities with the Wunder, primarily the wings and mech gages to the left and right side, the LCAM-01XA Archangel.

Then, toward the end of the show, the bad guys pull this out of their sleeve: The LCAM-01XB Dominion, commanded by the former 2IC of the Archangel; I'll be interested to see where this is going

And finally, the shot with Asuka and Mari - what strikes me as interesting is the shot composition in contrast to the Shinji/Kaworu scene in Q. Shinji and Kaworu had just a wide, empty area around them, while Asuka and Mari are in a cluttered room with a piece of furniture framed in such a way that it exactly splits the shot between them.

Good point! I was thinking more along the lines of this foreshadowing some sort of crack in their relationship, or less dramatically some barrier to signify that one isn't trying to overtake the other, but yours does seem like the more immediate significance of that scene
