The end credits will be in the middle of the Shin Eva movie. No explanation. (EoE style.) Many audience members will leave the theater during these credits. Some will stay, finding the other half of the movie after the credits. Word-of-mouth spreads about this oddity

Folks in Japan stick around during the credits (not applauding is a sign of respect, too) so I don't think this would be an issue with Shin Eva, since it wasn't for EoE.

I was just thinking about how they used the Death and Rebirth premiere to get footage for tge live-action segment of End of Eva.

Then it hit me that it would be crazy if all of the screenings of Avant 1 were done for a similar reason.

None of them needed release forms, so showing faces is out, but it would be crazy to imagine them using all the different back-of-head angles in a meta aspect of all the people waiting on Eva.

I don't think they'll actually do this, it's just fun idea fodder. I just found it interesting that they could do it if they really wanted to, with all this b-roll they did manage to slyly get from everyone. The taking of the Death & Rebirth b-roll was seemingly premediated for End of Eva usage, but I don't think the audience was told at the time that the filming was specifically for the movie though. They probably assumed it was for bonus footage if they weren't told anything at all.

And Khara has streamed all the cam archives of the different location screenings multiple times on the Eva-Extra app, so they're definitely feeling at least legally comfortable using the footage that they do have.

Galaxy Brain Troll Theory:
Avant 01 in Shin Eva is gonna be super meta and just a stitched together version using all the different cam footage, making Avant 01 an ephemeral piece of media, not even releasing as an extra on the blu-ray. Maybe they'll finally release an uncut hd version of the clean animation of it in the Revival of Rebuild of Evangelion box-set in a few years.

There is a part of me that genuinely thinks (and worries) some of the teaser shots may be fake or purposefully misleading though, ala the 3.0 preview at the end of 2.0. They've seemingly retconned some design stuff in the earlier teaser already too.

I also think there's a chance that everything we've seen so far is only the "First Act" of the movie. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole Unit 8 and Unit 2 VS Neo-Nerv and The Dark Wunder sequence is all wrapped up like 30 minutes into the movie.

And I think there's a chance that the seperation of 3.0 and 1.0 in the title really is really literal too, with the chucky 40 minute D-Part of the film maybe being the "+1.0" section that takes place after a timeskip.

I doubt the previews and trailers were fake. The only time that was done was at the end of Ha, and even then some of it clearly made it in with some changes - "the mysterious Unit 08" is just Eva 13 thematically. And the designs in the trailer at the end of Jo were also quite different from what we see in Ha, but noone calls that misleading.

(And I know that the cut live-action sequence is comparable duration wise, but not production expense wise. However, with Animator Expo Khara did literally finance hours worth of animation that has all but been scrubbed clean off their sites and there's no foreseeable plan to release them again either digitally or physically.)

I think you can still buy the two CDs of music from that, which I have with the themed bonus bookmarks. But I agree it's strange that they don't appear to be releasing it all in a disk package.

Throwing out 10 minutes worth of high-quality animation for the sake of trolling seems too far fetched, but there's a very high chance that we'll see changes in visual or dialogues. One of the shots in AVANT1 straight up reused a slightly-modified shot from 3.0 (the differences is Mari has the new plugsuit) which I'm almost sure won't be the case in the final film, unless they just stick with it for some reason.

Wow, I never noticed. Seems like it could be a placeholder. Or, if intentional, a reference to how things were sometimes done in the TV show. I think the placeholder thimg is likelier.

I wanna say the shot in 3.0 was (possibly?) animated by Anno himself. I don't know what that means for its reuse, but it's worth noting that Khara has been sprucing up the animation during the pandemic. It's possible that the finished film doesn't reuse that shot.

Yeah, that reused shot adds a WIP-ish feel to last year's AVANT1. Considering it has "0706 Version" on the title it's likely we'll see a more polished footage in the final film.

Personally I think that it's because it's the stereotypical shot of the daring and fearless hero before launching into battle and here it's used as a way to show how Mari is different from the other pilots for genuinely loving to pilot and how she stayed the same through the years (and movies).
