So... who's going to Japan for the movie?

I really wanna, but it's going to be busy, as I will only have time for a very short trip of 4 days due to work related reasons.
If they announced the release date as early as we know release dates for Hollywood movies, I could have planned better, goddamnit.
Now... who will win? The raging Otaku inside of me craving for this once in a lifetime event going to watch a movie I won't understand a word of... as I did for Q back in 2012...
or will I have finally learnt from Anno and wait for the movie like an adjusted person?

In AVANT 1 the countdown indicating the time remaining for Wille's operation stops at 11 seconds and 3 cents, as shown in the image. These numbers conceal the secret of the movie's release date.

About the subtitle... The English title is already so complicated and long: Evangelion 3.0+1.0, and the Japanese title broke with the naming convention of earlier titles.... so maybe, this time there's not gonna be a subtitle?

June 27th was my first thought when with the 2nd Teaser in July 19th last year (EoEs 22nd Anniversary) June 2020 was announced as the release window.

The promotion campaign for FINAL (or Road to 2020) is similar to 3.0s promotion campaign with a bit longer distance between the years (2010: Concept art of Asuka and Mari skating on the satelites of the WUNDER, 2011: Preview for 3.0 in the Japanese broadcast of 2.0, July 2012: Public Viewing of the EVA-EXTRA 08 Preview for 3.0 with November 17th, 2012 announced as the complete release date).

But FINAL can be also related to 2.0 because of the same release date and that the date can be formed with anagrams.

2.0 as the 2nd film after 1.0 started the changes that Rebuild has towards NGE. FINAL as the 2nd film after 3.0, has the deciding change how Rebuild ends in contrast to EoE.

This makes FINAL into a EoE 2.0 and so the finalised and independent new version of Eva.

That's what is meant with "Beginning and End are one" by Kaworu in 3.0, that the changes in 2.0 made the events of 3.0 possible and that FINAL goes beyond finishing Eva, that FINAL is aware that for NGE with EoE it isn't possible to retell and continiue a story that is long over, that it becomes a newer story that reflects how Evas message is used after it's over.

No announcement has been made but I would predict the likely chance of the film being delayed a few months because of the coronavirus is pretty high.
It all depends on how Japan - and the world - responds to this crisis over the next few weeks but seeing as Toho has already delayed a Doreamon film - I didn't know this but those things do crazy box office in Japan - MGM has moved the global release of the 25th James Bond film, No Time To Die, from April to November and there's a high probability the Tokyo Olympics could be delayed or outright cancelled if the situation becomes too much of a public risk.

Ultimately safety and health of the public should take precedence over entertainment and business. I'd much rather 3.0+1.0 be delayed a while than one person become fatally ill because they saw the movie in a packed house.

No announcement has been made but don't be surprised or angered if a delay does happen.

There isn't really a discussion here to be had I think since so much of the deciding factors are outside of the fans or Khara's control. It's ultimately a factor and something I think everyone should be aware of and also to inform yourself about SARS-COV-2 and COVID-19 if you haven't done so already.

In the meantime practice social distancing and avoid shaking hands, large crowds, do what you can to boost your immune system, practice on not touching your face and wash your hands frequently.

I'm a master of patience and I became this more since I found and watched Eva around 3.0s release and waited since then for FINAL.

To me some months of difference could decide if the film comes out when I have time or in the middle of alife consuming semester (though to be fair I don't know how long the bluray will take anyway).
The earlier the happier I'll be, but it'll be what it'll be.

So, I guess everyone is informed. There is NO reason to panic. But, stay home as much as possible. It sucks, but c'mon, we are all weebs anyway. This virus can be lethal to older people or people with certain conditions, with a higher death rate than the flu.

With that said, I think it's very likely Shin will be delayed. I would hope it comes out when the situation is better and doesn't just get pushed super far into the future, but it'll be what it'll be.

Has anyone any thoughts on this and what the release could be?

IMO the reasons keep piling up for film to finally be like other mediums, something you consume at home, with the cinema being an optional way of watching films. Cinemas are just an annoyance to me.

I intellectually understand if this film is delayed, and I do want everyone to stay safe from the virus, but I’m still gonna feel all sorts of emotions about it if that happens.
