Minor news about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0
Yesterday we shared some of the information we gathered about the movie on our twitter account. The information was gathered by talking with animator Se Jun Kim who is currently working on the movie. Nothing major, but I have to admit I can't stop thinking about what Mr. Kim told me, especially that bit about "It really feels like it's the end".

Thank you very much for posting it here
Well, they should sell the "uncut" version in the BD then.
First of all the movie will be around two hours long. It would be longer if it was possible, but this is a restriction imposed by the theaters so Anno works on cutting what he can to fit

Re: Minor news about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0
i second this, a director's cut version is always appreciated, then again, 2 hours long isn't all that bad tbh.
It's too late to pry away.
Re: Minor news about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0
Furthermore the version shown in Paris and the version shown in Japan was different as I could witness myself
this was probably voluntarily done by Anno to mess with fans
This is the most Anno thing to do, ever
I can see why Gendo hired Misato to do the actual commanding. He tried it once and did an appalling job. ~ AWinters

The movies function on their own terms. If people can't accept them on those terms, and keep expecting them to be NGE, then they probably should have realized a while ago that they weren't going to have a good time. ~ Words of wisdom courtesy of Reichu

I suspected Khara had better pay. There’s no way Anno lived under a desk at Gainax while working on Nadia just to be selfish with his own studio. Anno is a benevolent god.

Thank you very much for sharing this information!
Someday I hope that we'll be reunited if that is what's destined to be. Perhaps we'll discover that elusive bible. And then we will finally be free!

You just got a new Twitter follower!
So we can expect a movie that will go right up to and maybe a little over 2 hours but not by much (I'd guess a runtime with credits that's between 110 to 125 minutes, easily making it the longest theatrical Eva film) and I also figured Khara may be open to Eva stuff continuing in the future (whether that's more manga or TV or film will be up to them) but Anno is done.
I mean for Anno it makes sense. Unlike when Neon Genesis/EOE ended where he was still very much a (well-respected) anime director always on the hunt for a new gig, when he walks off Final he'll be coming off an insanely phenomenal run as writer/director of FIVE super successful films* and the head of his own production studio. The guy can pretty much do whatever he wants after this.
Seeing the wild & uniquely original things he's been doing with established series like Eva & Godzilla I really would love to see him go wild with something entirely fresh and original.
*Plus a sixth hit if Shinji Higuchi can deliver with Shin Ultraman.

Re: Minor news about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0
2 hours, huh?
The movie is probably going to be dense and have a lot of content like 2.0 and will not have a slow build up like 1.0 and 3.0

To the request of M. Sejoon Kim, I deleted the tweets. Sorry for the inconvenience. Even if it wasn't much it was confidential info

Re: Minor news about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0
Missed the boat on the info, but it's about 2 hours long? Good to know, at any rate. Anything else that wasn't posted here from the tweets?

Re: Minor news about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0
I made a copy of the tweets just in case they disappeared
text SPOILER: Show
Since we're talking about Hideaki Anno, Khara and Evangelion we might as well share some of the exclusive info we know about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0
It is not enough to write a whole article about, thus we'll share it as a thread instead.
It's mainly technical stuff, no spoilers
Obviously, if you want to avoid any kind of information about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 we recommend you do not read the following tweets.
In July we met with talented animator Se Jun Kim who is famous for his work on several Gundam series, Space Dandy and One Punch Man. We met for a drink more on July 19th.
As we met, he told us that he is currently working at Khara on the new Evangelion movie
He had animated some scenes for Shin Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Avant which had been previewed during Japan Expo, and also for the trailer which had been released the same day we met.
Obviously he could not tell us much about it, but we still could gather some information.
First of all the movie will be around two hours long. It would be longer if it was possible, but this is a restriction imposed by the theaters so Anno works on cutting what he can to fit
Also, Se Jun Kim has read the storyboards. All he could say was that: this really feels like the end. There's a real sense of completion. Where will Eva go from there? Anno said he'd like other people to keep doing Eva related stuff, similar to how Gundam does
(this precise statement from Anno is found in the second part of the interview we have translated which we will release soon. You can read the first part at https://fullfrontal.moe/khara-10 )
Se Jun Kim also talked about how it is working on Eva. He said it's tough, but not tougher than anywhere else. Also, Khara pays better than other places. He said that probably had to do with Anno previously being an animator and knowing the struggle it is
He said they always work until the last possible moment. Not because they are late on schedule but because they want to make use of all the time they have available to produce the best possible work they can
This is why the master to Evangelion Avant was given to Megumi Ogata at the airport as she was leaving for Paris. Furthermore the version shown in Paris and the version shown in Japan was different as I could witness myself
Se Jun Kim laughingly said this was probably voluntarily done by Anno to mess with fans
This all I can remember talking about concerning Evangelion. The team is really doing their best so please look forward to it!

Re: Minor news about Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0
I REALLY hope they do this and am overjoyed that the movie will be long (but also that they're putting a bow on EVa and calling it done while it's stiff fun/good draggings things out forever usually leads to a decline in quality over all)
There is plenty to wrap up so I hope we get the cut scenes or at least unused storyboards like with the 2.0 complete records
