I hope the trailer for Happytime Murders is just selling the wrong tone because while the concept of the film is phenomenal the gags are awful. Fingers crossed but it’s another one of those passion projects that lost its way from conception to execution. It started as a plan to be straight up film noir parody then slowly progressed into this contemporary CSI but with puppets & jizz gags.

Again, hoping for the best.

I think this film is really about Jim Hendson company trying to hype itself up because there releasing The Dark Crystal Age Of Resistance next year on netflix and they've been shoe horning Dark Crystal and Labyrinth merchandise like crazy over the last year so Happy Time is like there way of going Jim Hendson Company still exists take notice of us.

My personal view is that this movie is trying to rip off the Avenue Q adult puppet stage show but its come out with a much more sausage party and that could be really bad. As Avenue Q works because it talks adults issues like porn, sex homosexuality openly but doesn't show things yes there is a huge song about sex but the puppets and shadowed and are behind blinds and this makes the theme work better because its implied and this adds to the humour.

Looks more like trying to make some money out of controversy, and already it's outraging some people who grew up with Sesame Street.

Of course, it's blatantly tasteless and this makes Pat Boone's minor foray into metal much milder.

Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria is going to join the very small list of truly great horror remakes:

View Original PostGendo'sPapa wrote:A sequel to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011) has always been a lost cause in all regards.
The sequel novels in the Millennium Series (the original three novels by Stieg Larsson he wrote before his death & the fourth by David Largercrantz) are REALLY bad. Lisbeth loses a lot of her cool, the villains become more outlandish (evil Swedish Nazis out to keep one hacker down), the plots become exponentially dumber & the pudgy male protagonist just fucks his way through Sweden because apparently all statuesque blondes want nothing more than an out of shape political journalist in his early 50s (note: Larsson openly admitted the Blomkvist character is basically him.... he is no Daniel Craig). The original novel - Dragon Tattoo - isn't a great work of art by any means but it works based on the superficialities in it, Lisbeth being an interesting mystery for Blomkvist to play off of & a pretty solid narrative drive of "who is the killer". The sequels don't have that. There isn't a base for a good story. There's no foundation for good films to build on.
Fincher wanted to do the original sequels to Dragon Tattoo - those being The Girl Who Played With Fire & The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest - but he wanted to do it his way which meant budgets well north of $100 million per film & exclusive control of the marketing. Not an easy sell to a studio for films that basically revolve around rape, murder & continued fetishization of Lisbeth Salander who as a character herself is mostly a fetish. Sony tried to work out a deal with Fincher to do BOTH movies for a budget of about $100 million total but that didn't take. Fincher left.
Rooney Mara & Daniel Craig won't come back without Fincher.

So yeah, doing an adaptation of the FOURTH book in an okay series with an all new cast & team at a lower budget is probably a lost cause from a critical standpoint but from a financial standpoint I think they're in the right mind. They'll get a Dragon Tattoo sequel with a whole version of Salander done on a budget 1/5 the cost of what Fincher would have wanted. They'll make money.

Of course if they hire Noomi Rapace to take the role again I'll put this at the top of my must see list for 2018 because I'm a sucker for her version of the character a lot more than Mara's.

Trailer is here. Carie Foy (the crown) is Salander.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKMSP9OKspQ

Looks good so far. Visuals aren't quite Fincher quality but certainly feel like the franchise.

I'm really hoping this is better the whole transformer franchise no offence intended if you like those films but I just want to see one that's very down to earth and heartfelt and not about everything blowing up.

1. Not Michael Bay (I still defend him and I actually liked The Last Knight on its own merits, not ironically, but still...) so points for that, and

2.
SPOILER: Show
F-15 Starcream with G1 colors!

I'm hoping it's a hard reboot that looks like a soft reboot, as befits the source material: a cartoon in which Megatron has at least three different origins, including one in which he is built by other Decepticons that he later built himself.

Trailer for David Gordon Green's Halloween is here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek1ePFp-nBI

Looking good. Not seeing anything I take issue with.
Shot of the massive asylum field set up so the patients can roam is nicely surreal.
Fan of Will Patton, happy he is getting work.

That last jump scare of the closet that won't close truly spooked me out of everything that was shown.
