The trailer doesn't use footage from the actual movie. It's merely a concept trailer, used to identify the kind f tone and aesthetic they're trying to reach with this movie. I will watch this movie for these tones, so I guess it was worth it.

YESSSsss.

But in all seriousness; the trailer fills me with an excitement and anticipation I've only ever really felt akin to lead up to Evangelion New Theatrical Edition: Q.

Calling it now; this movie is going to fucking rock - It just has too much good going on, i.e. Gareth Edwards directing (Go and watch Monsters, seriously!), a Legendary Pictures production (Who are almost becoming the Toho of the US, don't you think?), Bryan "The-Fucking-Man" Cranston, other daikaiju beside the titular and just look at G himself! He looks 'effin huge! And the design has already grown on me a little (Linked image is just an earlier concept design, mind).

Film could be the best since the original, for sure.

For sake of the thread, here's the synopsis:

FYI: Godzilla '98 looked good from the trailers as well.
While I have no doubt Legendary will treat this series well.
only time will tell if it can Really stack up to the other Godzilla movies.

make more Godzilla films. Since for the past decade or so his
movies have been steadily declining at the box office.

I feel you, when I saw the expressions in the trailer for Iron Man 3 it just felt like Cloverfield with Robert Downey Jr, robots, Guy Pearce, people blowing up for ill-defined reasons, drunk cockney actors, and predictable asspulls instead of a giant monster, and lo and behold, I was right.

I remember back in the 90s when TNT and the Sci-Fi channel, here in America, would frequently show Godzilla movies on cable. I feel that same anticipation I did as kid only know it's on the big screen. Can't believe it's been 14 years since Godzilla last appeared in theaters. Hopefully the new release means the entire Godzilla franchise will come out on home video in the US but I doubt it as the JPN Blu Ray releases have been poor in terms of sales and haven't been released since 2009-2010, 4 years ago. The Criterion Godzilla Blu Ray is superior to the Japanese one at that.
