Look, let's be fair - I don't know much about DB, but I DO know that it could not be directly translated to live-action. It needed to be adapted. The look of the characters simply would not have worked in real-life. (This is coming from someone who HAS seen plenty of cosplays, before anyone suggests otherwise)

And let's face it, the reason you watch Dragonball is for the fighting and flashy colours. It's not for the plot.

I watched a good chunk of DB and all of Z, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't just because I had a hard-on for "fighting and flashy colors".

In fact, there are times in the show where too much fighting and too little plot progression has truly catastrophic results. If "10 episodes of fighting Freeza during a supposedly 5-minute time frame" rings any bells, you ought to know what I mean. @_@ I really hope nobody was watching the show for that.

I recently bought the DVDs and have been watching them all, and when it came to that 5 minute sequence, it lasted for about 9 episodes.

Still, Cell saga is better.

It kind of looks like a spin off of moratl combat. I lol'd at the fact that they were not flying or driving hovercars.

The Reelz Channel made a upgrade of the trailer with a few new scenes and the visual and sound effects have been updated.

So this movie doesn't look super amazing, but the stupidest complaint I keep hearing is that this movie needs (more) Asian actors to be authentic, or at least that Goku needs to be played by an Asian actor...

I mean, come on. Akira Toriyama's art style doesn't really favor any nationality. The closest we get is Trunks, who is supposed to look like an American, but his facial structure is identical to everyone else's. The only difference is, he has blue eyes.

I will grant that in Dragonball it was more obvious who was supposed to be from where (ie. General Tao seemed pretty Oriental in appearance), but especially going into DBZ this became much less obvious.

What the heck does this even mean? Somehow I just know that this movie going to be terrible although I had from some fans that some DB animated movies are terrible.

It's worth noting that since Goku is an alien he doesn't have a nationality so it doesn't matter who plays him, same with Piccolo.

Also half the cast is made up of Asian actors, not to mention the directors, producers and crew, so I think they've done quite well!

So I agree with you when you say some of the criticism is unfounded.

Also, yeah. What exactly is 'Evolving' here? It makes it seem like it's some kind of sequel or something. I dislike subtitles (as in the sense of a secondary title) in movies anyway.

One of my best friends is insanely hyped up over this... Each time he says it is his 'Most Anticipated' film of '09... I just shake my head.

But yet again... I'll still see the stupid thing. :p
