Ehh, yeah, I'm not too fond of this filmmaker. And to top it all off, it's not Dragon Ball Z, it's Dragon Ball.

I originally liked the idea of this, but ever since the budget was slaughtered to $100 million, this film probably won't have hope.

But I could be wrong... I have before.

I'm personally of the mindset that Live Action DBZ is going to suck no matter who directs it. Like I said earlier; somethings DO NOT translate well into Live Action. I'd think that after the Super Mario Bros movie you'd all understand that.

I wish someone would MST3K Evangelion. You know, recreate the entire character silhouettes at the bottom of the screen and impersonate the voices of Crow, Tom, and Mike. That would be awesome.

You know, this really should happen. But it could just be done in MST3K style. A few of us (at least reichu and evamonkey) should get together and commentary it. A commentary on the ridiculousness of it all, by the fans.
It sounds like the kind of project EvaGeeks.org could take on...

@ TriLink12

"somethings DO NOT translate well into Live Action"

I agree. This is why I don't want the live action Eva film to be made. In fact, I really despise it. Even if it does hop into production, it wouldn't be for another five years or so, and hopefully by that time I'll have a big enough foot in the door to talk to someone about it...

You're all a bunch of pessimists.

You just think of what would most probally happen, when you should think of what could happen. The possibilities.
Even being really hard, it COULD be GREAT! Wonderful!
To think that we have a chance to see something that wonderful pays the price of the probability of it being "Matt Greenfield's New Gospel Evangelion".

Cheer up emo kids! :D

No, it got ruined during the latter half of Dragonball Z

Character: (makes constipation noises for 10 episodes).....OH MY GOD HE'S GOING TO USE THE SUPER SPIRIT FIRECRACKER ULTRA DRAGON POWER CANNON!!!

Other character: You cannot defeat me once I power up!! (Makes constipation noises for another 20 episodes while some random baddie beats the shit out of some other character in a totally one-sided fight)

Chee: (Throws remote at TV, TV explodes ATHF-style) I want the over 9000 hours of my life back!!!

The first two story arcs were fine. What I saw of the Cell Saga was problematic, to say the least, but the overall storyline WOULD HAVE worked as an effective final chapter. Think about it: Son surpasses father, a new generation is given the torch. The end. BUT NOOOOO......

Halfway true...Akira Toriyama wanted to stop with the Frieza Saga, but they made him keep going.

For what it's worth, with all the Matrix-y Wire-fu movies about, a Live Action DBZ atleast has the possiblitly to be VISUALLY spectacular. But the possibilty doesnt always mean they would do it as such. And even if it LOOKS cool, as pointed out, it will still probably suck. But I've been hearing rumors about this since the late 90's, jsut like the Live Action Sailor Moon fans dreaded them making (the Japanese finnaly stepped in and did that shit for us!) And the phantom Live Action Eva movie that keeps poping up and then is as quickly forgoten. I refuse to belive a word of it until I see a trailer or a press release for New Line cinema!

I will believe it when I see it. But if it is the case . . .

No. I mean, it works great in the animation realm, but definetly not live action.

What's next? Space Ghost Coast to Coast?

They actually made a serious Space Ghost comic book recently. I could see it hapening.

. . . Good point. The problem I am currently having with this is that DBZ is much too silly to portray on screen. And this might start a trend of Hollywood mutilating Anime.

Isn't this a Dragon Ball film? Not Dragon Ball Z?
