I watched The Road yesterday, it is quite good, the movie takes the post apocalyptic theme and develops it realistically. It is also a bit moving as it deals with the emotional numbness that befalls the survivors.

Shohei Imamura's Vengeance Is Mine. Phew. Above all, this film is challenging. The fragmented and nearly haphazard (at first) narrative doesn't make it any easier when the content itself is full of straightforward, brutal murders and sex/rape scenes. Yet there's a certain kind of charm to the story's characters and irony. I guess I need to calm down so that I can write something of value about this film.

Au Revoir Taipei is a nice little lightweight romantic crime comedy-drama. Probably not the most memorable film of 2010, but it's well shot and newcomer actress Amber Kuo shows a lot of star potential. Also, Taipei at night looks like a fun place to visit.

Interesting fact: Wim Wenders is credited as a producer for this film. Huh.

Jean-Luc Godard's Contempt. Godard gonna Godard. Metacinema and Bardot's bare butt everywhere. I guess that's all a pretentious French film needs. I'd love to read Jimbo's thoughts on the film (I know you fap to it, Jimmy).

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Third time I've seen the film and it gets better each time.

BTW Contempt is the most overrated Goddard film and doesn't hold a candle next to Breathless or Pierrot le fou.

This might means something if all three weren't absolutely God Tier and thus their internal order is quite irrelevant :hohum:

THIS. I've seen it 3 times on DVD and once in a theater, but it always makes me laugh like hell and then I'm completely mindfucked.

Easy A and How to Train Your Dragon (review coming tomorrow). I'll also be seeing Inception tonight in all likelihood.

Yeah, this was actually only my second time viewing it, but I'm amped up for a third viewing right away. My new job is to subject a friend to it. If Love Exposure does not have an Oldboy-like cult following in the west in 2-3 years, the west are fail.

It was really funny to see how the audience reacted to Love Exposure - it was obvious most of them had not seen it in advance. The first hour and half were filled with roars of laughter, but eventually they were trolled so hard. Aya Koike's background story made them go "EWWWW" and so forth. In the end they were rather confused - and the film got the loudest applause of the films I saw at the film festival in September.

I watched the second Stray Cat Rock film, Wild Jumbo. Writing about it for the next Spotlight on Japan.

Altitude: Pretty good flick and I like it a lot. I was rather letdown that we did not see more of the monster in the sky, and the CGI was awful. I like how suspenceful the movie was and I did found it somewhat scary since the main character somewhat reminds me of myself in a way. I also hated the plot twist.

SPOILER: Show
So the main character can create things in his mind and did some time lop where his mom or dad was never killed in the Plan Crash back in 2000.

I give the movie a 7/10.

Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs, if that counts.

To varying levels of non-completeness: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Die Hard 2, Year One.
