Finished rewatching the Wire in HD, and I can't say that it felt like the format change negatively affected the show. There's definitely some places here or there that you kind of wonder about because it kind of "feels" like there's stuff getting cut off, but looking back at the originals, it's just that the extra room on the left and right just makes it feel that way. Then there are places like with the CCTV footage that HBO insisted on simply stretching instead of leaving in the original 4:3 aspect ratio.

Tried watching The Blacklist but it was utter shit. Gave up 10 minutes into episode 6. Now watching Broadchurch. It's pretty good if not a really stretched out single-case procedural.

Trying to finish Breaking Bad (I'm on season 3) after it sitting on my Netflix Watchlist for ages. I hadn't been watching it because Jesse reminded me of a douche-wad friend of my parents (who has now fallen off the Earth somehow) but now I'm like "Wow, why did I stop watching this show?"

Restarting Parks and Recreation because I've been meaning to catch up. I used to watch it on NBC Thursdays along with Community after one of my Thursday night classes but haven't watched either since.

Started Pee-Wee's Playhouse after (finally) caving and watching Pee-Wee's Big Adventure the other day. I know I must have watched something Pee-Wee related when I was younger but I can't remember, which is weird. Its basically made out of things I would have been crazy for as a kid: claymation, puppets, wacky architecture, talking to the TV, kitsch, old cartoons. That kind of stuff.

Just finished the pilot myself. I enjoyed it. Bob Odenkirk is great.

Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

I did expect it to be more comedic, but this is awesome nevertheless. Funny, thrilling and entertaining, with cameos of some lovely people.

This is kind of a slow-burner, but before you realise it, it unfolds and tells a compelling story about interesting characters.

^What's OitNB like? All I'd heard about the show before was that it had lesbians in it, but like Game of Thrones I'm pretty sure there's more to it than that.

It's a little bit like a grown-up version of Weeds, which is hardly surprising, since it's from the same creator. It starts of slowly, but it has an interesting flash-back structure to let you know about the people's lives before prison. The cast is huge, but it's crowded with interesting more-dimensional characters, which are what draws you back. It's funny, sometimes violent, throws twists and turns while still staying believable for most of the time. If you think you know, how it's gonna work out, you most certainly don't. And when I thought, "darn, it's jumping the shark" it resolved my issues with style in the most eloquent way I'd imagined.
Of course, there are more boring Episodes, but there are stand-out ones, but I won't say which.

Don't know about the Game of Thrones comparisons, since I haven't watched GoT.

^I meant it in the sense that all anyone knows about GoT is that there are sex scenes in it, when in fact most of it revolves around drama, politics, blood and GRRM's vast mythos with sex as a minor distraction.

Well, yeah. There's lesbian sex in it. But it's more like Girls in the sense that the participants don't necessarily have perfect bodies (which seems like a big deal to American audiences, from what I've gathered).

Damn, the latest Episode of Girls featured Mushi-shi Zoku Shou's opening theme. Really weird to listen to it in such a wildly different context.

Better Call Saul
I'll be damned if this isn't so much better than I expected. I thought it we'd either get a Breaking Bad lite with cameos galore or some sort to law focused comedy. I was all sorts of wrong. BCS is it's own show right from the start. It's got the right balance between wit and drama and Odenkirk's acting is topnotch. Really liking that they've kept the BB cameos and references to a minimum and that the show is going in its own and thus far interesting direction. Can't wait for more.

BOSCH - season 1 - 10 episodes
- amazon prime series
- solid police procedural
- titus welliver is a damn likable lead
- annie wersching is sexy as hell, glad to see her again, she was on general hospital in like 07 when i was briefly watching said soap opera (for some reason)
- guy playing the serial killer, is very very slimy
- good acting all around, guy playing bosch's partner has good interaction with titus

HOUSE OF CARDS - season 3 - episodes #1-4 so far
- WATCH THIS SHOW OMG
- foucus on doug stamper(michael kelly) is very interesting, seeing a man, broken & abandoned, but continues to hope and strive for a return to what he was, even if it means switching sides.
- frank is humanized a bit this season so far, as we see him in dispair, but we also seem him at arguably his most despicable
SPOILER: Show
such as pissing on his dads grave & spitting in the face of a statue of Jesus (not counting the 2 murders he committed obviously)

- The Score of House of Cards is so Fucking Good, it makes A scene of Simply Cooking some Eggs seems Haunting, Unnerving, Rejuvenating and Epic all at Once.
- robin wright continues to give a intense performance, arguably more so than spacey
- Molly Parker is a actress im liking in this and season2 a lot, she has a elegant beauty to her.
id never seen her in anything before but according to her filmography she has been in a ton of stuff.
- lars mikkelsen who was a superb villain on sherlock is suitably thugish and vile as the putin stand in Russian president, the interplay between him and frank is searing.

It took me a while but I finally started watching Twin Peaks, partly because it'll give me enough time to finish this scarf I'm working on and mostly because I really should have watched it by now.

I'm getting a few True Detective vibes, although I can already tell this is going to go in a very different direction. Looking forward to where this rabbit hole leads to.

Reached Episode 8 of Twin Peaks Season 2. The series is excellent. Unfortunately, the signs of the seasonal rot I have heard a lot about are already becoming apparent. A wedding scene popped up and it occurred to me that I had no idea who these two people getting married were, nor did I actually want to find out. I had heard that the characters introduced in Season 2 were very annoying and that has proven to be true. Perhaps I should circle back and watch Fire Walk with Me or just skip to the end.

The second season of Twin Peaks is definitely uneven. Some parts were superfluous and boring. It felt like the creators just shoe-horned in these random storylines and scenes that didn't really add much to the show. What I've assumed is that they either had too many episodes than they needed or they thought these injections of lightheartedness that distracted from the main story would retain/draw in viewers. Maybe both.

I've just finished Cucumber and it's respective tie in Banana. It's a pretty cool show, for everyone who wishes to have a fictionalised, though routed in reality aspects of gay life. Banana as a tie in had some particularly well-made Episodes, I think Rosenkhara might appreciate.
