when I first heard the title, I assumed it was going to be a film about blue collar people that work in a refinery of sorts in the middle of the ocean fighting monsters straight out of the works of H.P. Lovecraft and whatnot. Sort of like if The Thing was in the water, but nothing like Leviathan.
now that I heard about what it really is about, it exceeds what I assumed it was going to be.

It just sounds like a similar voice synthesizer to me, although the timbre of the voice is evocative of GLaDOS. Can they really get in trouble for that?

It isn't a synthesizer. Or rather, it isn't software-generated voice. That's the same actress who did GLaDOS (according to Kotaku, anyway). Since GLaDOS is mostly a disembodied voice (her character was mostly all voice), there's definitely a copyright claim there if Valve was interested in litigation. MGM got Honda to pull a commercial over a Bond-like character -- this is much more literal infringement than that.
