They swiftly agree.

You arrive at Headquarters. On the way to your locker you meet Rei.
"Ikari-kun. I heard what happened with Dr. Akagi last night. She told you, didn't she?"
You nod.
"I shouldn't have waited. I should have told you at the hospital yesterday. That other me, the one you met in the Eva. She was murdered by Dr. Akagi's mother."
"Murdered?!"
"Yes. That's why she attacked the control room. She thought her killer was there.

"She had also been told her identity. After she was killed she was placed into the Eva. Her memories went with her. I knew nothing. Nothing until yesterday. I am complete now; both of us are in this body. I am the third. Her memories are mine now. If I had known I would have never..." she stops.
"I know that, Ayanami."
"That's good. I thought you would hate me."
"I could never hate you."
"I see. You must go to your training now. Good bye."

You are in Unit-01, synching well. It's time.
"Mother, you're here aren't you?"
"Yes, Shinji; I've always been here looking after you."
"The others, are their mothers there too?"

You carefully consider your next question.
"Can I trust father?"
"That depends upon what he asks you to do. What ever it is, you will do it in the Eva. Don't worry, I'll be here to guide you.

"Shinji," she continues, "I'm glad I found you. I need you to do something."
"Yes, what?"
"When you destroy the next Angel's core, be careful not to destroy its contents. You will find there an object that sort of looks like a double corkscrew. Remove it, place it in the Eva's mouth and swallow it. It is the Angel's S^2, an infinite power source. With it we will win for sure. Will you do this?"
"Yes, I will."
"That's good."

The synch test ends.

You need to decide how to proceed.

1. Tell Asuka and Mari everything you learned from Yui. Tell no one else.

2. Tell Asuka and Mari all except for the S^2 information. Tell no one else.

3. Tell Asuka and Mari all and tell your father as well. Ask him if you should really swallow the S^2.

4. Tell them all except for the S^2 information. Tell only your father about that. Ask him if you should really swallow the S^2.

Number 2. Telling Gendo you know Yui is in there and about her plan is probably a very STUPID idea. Mari and Asuka definately need to know about this at the very LEAST. But they might oughta know about the S^2. I'm divided between one and two. I doubt that they would tell anybody what you tell them...... I DONT BELIEVE anyways....... So, Im going to go with one.

The training is over. Asuka and Mari both come running. Asuka almost has tears of joy.
"Shinji, you were right."
"You were both able to communicate with them?"
"Yes, she said she's always been watching over me. I'm so happy. Thank you for finding this out!"
"Me too, Puppy-kun! I missed her so much." Mari then looks whistful, "Of course, when our mission is over it'll be sad when we have to part again, but that's okay; I got to say some things I couldn't say before."
"I had a good talk too," adds Asuka. "I understand things better now."

You tell them all that you learned about the mother/child bond, and about how far you can trust Gendo. You withhold only the S^2 information.

The alarm bells sound; it's the next Angel!

You re-board your Evas and launch! You see Rei observing, obviously frustrated that she has no Eva.
"Shinji," it's your father, "you take command. Do not fail."
"Yes sir."

The target is in sight. The three of you observe it carefully. It's back to the humanoid shaped Angels. Only this one is much bigger than the others.

Ignoring you its eyes glow briefly, then it fires an eye beam at the ground about 3/4 of the distance between you. A huge crater opens!

"Shinji!", you hear Misato's voice, "That thing just blasted through all the layers of armor in one shot! The geofront is laid bare!"
"We need to block it!" you tell the others.

The three of you leap over the crater and block its path. You see now that its arms are a thin as toilet paper. As if to impress you it uses them to neatly slice a nearby building into bricks.

You need a plan, quick!

Free form: How do you combat the new Angel (Zeruel) without losing various limbs, not to mention heads, to its razor sharp arms, and without being fried by that beam? Also remember that you need to get that S^2.

Mari blocks the Angel's path. Asuka attacks/tackles the Angel from behind, holding him down. Meanwhile (as Asuka and Mari are doing their thing) you charge at the Angel's front, attacking Zer, and then ask Yui to help you get the S2.

Waste no time with any of this, explain the plan (minus the S2) then move out!

While Zeruel is distracted, have Asuka move in to grab its arms from behind and start negating its AT field. Then, move in from an angle to stay out of the way of its eye beams and rip out the core. Finally, chow down on your sweet S2 engine goodness.

I'm glad to hear you like it, SSD. Zeruel is probably the most physically powerful of the Angels, but he's slow and designed for ranged combat. Getting up in his face with multiple assailants should make things a lot easier.

"Yes."
"Good. Mari you get behind cover and provide fire support. If it turns its attention to you, be prepared to change positions at a moment's notice. Don't get caught by that beam."
"Roger."
"Asuka, when you get into position negate its A.T. field and grab its shoulders. Don't grab the arms or you'll lose your fingers."
"Understood."
"Then I'll go for the core."
"How will you avoid its eye beam?" this from Asuka.
"Its eyes glowed for a moment before it fired. I can use that to time my move. Lets move out."

Mari dives behind a fallen building to the right while Asuka sidles left. Ignoring you, the Angel looks from side to side, as if unable to decide which of them is the greater threat. It begins to turn towards Asuka but Mari opens fire! The Angel screams in rage. Mari ducks behind a collapsed bridge just in time, as the building's remains vaporize. Asuka moves in. She's got it!

You begin your dash towards the Angel, angling your approach so as to minimize the chance of a hit. But it manages to turn its head your way. The eyes begin their glow. Which way?! Down! You launch yourself into a headfirst slide! The beam passes over you and destroys still more buildings. You hope everyone there obeyed the evacuation order. Your slide was timed perfectly! You rise in front of the enemy's core. Drawing your prog knife you slash the core instead of the usual stab. The core splits open. There it is! Reaching into the core you snatch the S^2. Bwooop...., the Angel goes silent.
"Oh well," you think. "bon appitite."
You lean your head back and swallow the S^2.
You hear Maya's voice on your radio, "Target has been destroyed."
Your eyes begin to widen. The power gagues are all maxed out! It worked.

"How did you know to do that, Puppy-kun?"
"Mother told me." You don't mention that it was during training. Let them think it was during the fight.

Back at headquarters you have just exited your Eva when your father comes rushing up to you. To your surprise he grasps both of your hands and smiles; this is the first time he ever smiled at you.
"Shinji, how did you know to do that? She told you, didn't she? You've been in communication with your mother."
"Yes, father."
"This is wonderful! All our prayers are answered. You don't know yet what a good thing you've done, but you soon will. I'm proud of you, son."
"Thank you. father."

The days pass. Things are as fun as they always were with Asuka and Mari; however Rei mostly avoids you.

You are taking a rare walk along the shores of a lake newly formed by one of the recent explosions when you hear someone humming "Ode to Joy."
Who could be way out here? No one ever comes here.
Then you spot him. A pale boy, about your age or perhaps a triffle older. He turns towards you.
"Music and song are good, the grandest expression of Lilim culture. Don't you agree, Shinji Ikari-kun?"
"Um... do you know me?" Who the hell are the Lilim?"
"You should have a greater appreciation of your position; you're famous."
"Not really... um..."
"I'm Kaworu Nagisa. Please call me Kaworu, Shinji-san. I'm the new pilot of Unit-06."
"O.K. Kaworu-kun."

After this introduction you part ways, or at least you think you do. You are relaxing in the Nerv baths when you hear "Ode to Joy" once again. Kaworu slides into the bath with you.
You think, "Why did he follow me here? I hope he's not one of those stalkers I hear celebrities attract."

"I hear you have a wonderful home to return to. You must be very lucky; I'm jealous."
"Yes, I consider myself very fortunate."
"You must be worthy of their love then."
"Me, worthy...?"
"Yes, I love you, Shinji-kun."

WTF!!?? This is unexpected and annoying!

What do you do?

1. It might not be what it sounds like; ask him what he means.

2. Politely tell him you don't swing that way.

3. You're so surprised that all you can do is make incoherent noises like, "Wh-wh-wha h-h-hu-huh? Say wh-wh-wh-wha?"
