Of the abridged series I've watched (YGO, Naruto, Haruhi Suzumiya), I've found LK's YGO abridged to be the best. While I liked Yu-Gi-Oh as a series back then (still watch it now for the lulz), the abridged series made me (or rather helped me) to realize just how terribly done it was (again, why I re-watch it for the lulz, same with like Megaman and Pokemon...).

The only abridged series that is best is "Yu-gi-oh: the Abridged Series". HANDS DOWN, THE BEST.

Fans will know already, but TeamFourStar recently uploaded ep12 of DBZA.

Apparently, nothing but a prolonged "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" reference is comedy enough for them
Seems they can't make the funny unless Nappa or Mr.Popo is directly involved in a scene. Too bad they have little to do with the series beyond the Saiyan Saga.

Oh yeah- whenever "abridgers" have to use their real-life selves in their videos = automatic epic fucking fail

I should probably shut up and get to work on my own projects, so they too can be criticised in a sarcastic manner...

I really can't remember X D I went to try and find it on itunes and there seems to a whole lot more since last time I checked.
Oh well I tried out DBZ Abridged by TFS. Never knew Piccolo's a Yoshi = P and I love how they measure peoples power levels in 'Raditz's'. Really cracked me up!

That's because he was making the episodes to be funny on their own, rather than pandering to a fanbase. I think it was about Season 2 that YGO: Abridged lost most of its humor.

Also, on topic, I'd just like to say that some abridged series seem to be missing the point. Your goal is to shorten a series and give people a reason to watch your work (generally, with humor). Though I haven't seen too many abridged series because they tend to be garbage, I will say that I was genuinely confused by one person's decision to abridge The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I mean, come on: You're abridging a fourteen episode COMEDY. Unless you're a professional, you're not going to make it funnier than the original already was, and you're not going to have much success shortening it either. What are you thinking?

I think YugiohAS is pretty good. DBZ Abridged on the other hand is painfully overrated. As a hardcore DBZ fan and a member of the Dragon Ball equivalent of evageeks - Daizenshuu EX, I honestly don't see what's so damn great. WOW! There pointing out things we DBZ fans already know! Give them a fucking lifetime achievement award! :rolls:

I do believe the series was made for the millions of casual fans from the show's air dates, rather then the thousands of hardcore fans who have actually calculated SSJ4 Goku's power to the 3rd decimal place. I think what makes the show so great is how it lampoons itself constantly. Yes, we all know that Krillin is still a useful character, and makes up for lack of strength by being creative, and blah blah blah.

It's much funnier just to think of his character as a meat shield.

The Yugioh one is silly but funny.

Evangelion has an abridged series too, but they´re not TOO good.

But I liked this joke:

I need you to pilot the Evangelion, ...Naota.
*broken vinyl screeching what did you just say-sound*
Father, don´t you remember my name?
Naota? Simon? Shinji? I can´t tell you guys apart anymore.

I forgot the exact dialog, but it was something like this.

Dialog is terrible, though. Only thing worse is the editing, especially episode 2. I don't even think he's an Eva fan, just some Rebuild-douche.

Agreed, all the Eva abridged series are terrible. I wouldn't be caught dead in one of them. :smirk:
