Yaoi/Shounen-Ai
Okay... I am not being annoying. But, how can a forum exist without having a yaoi thread? I mean, sure there are the threads for Shinji/Kaworu and whether or not Shinji is gay or Kaworu is gay... but, not outright, pure, true, yaoi thread.
So, I am making one.
Also... it is unfair to yaoi if there is a yuri thread but not a yaoi one.
I am not going to squee over my yaoi.
This is a thread for which Yaoi anime are good and why.
*****************
First off, Fujimi Orchestra.
The amazing tale of a some-what young, thriving violinist, named Yuuki Morimura, in the small town of Fujimi. Everything in is life is pretty much good. He is the first violinist of the small orchestra his town has, he has a good paying job as a substitute music teacher, he has a nice apartment and he has some good friends. Then, 'he' arrives. "Lord Telephone Pole" as Yuuki calls him. The over 6' tall Japanese man who is there to be the orchestra's new conductor. His name: Kei Tounin. Kei is strict, exact, a perfectionist. And... he falls for Yuuki shortly after he meets him.
Beware: This one episode OVA contains rape.
The actual story is based off a LONG (40+) novel series where MANY more things happen.
This is one of my favorite yaoi anime. Although very short (TOOOOOOOO short) it has an interesting view on how love grows. Try to find the short manga chapters that go over the first, third and fifth novels (I think). They give more background and more details on what happens after this OVA.

God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

Yaoi is, well, actually: Yaoi is extreme, graphic, boy-on-boy sex.
Yaoi actually is an acronym (it's in Japanese, I dont remember it) but it pretty much means: No plot line, no random unneeded crap... it's supposed to be Gay Hentai.
But, yaoi has become a term for just boy-on-boy love. aka Shounen-ai (literally boy love), BL (boy love) or gay.
So, I'm asking for anime about or containing homosexual men and their relationships.

aside from the one yaoi couple in Simoun, I really don't know of any yaoi anime or manga. Unless you count the rather touching yaoi-shota relationship between Haku and Zabuza in Naruto around episode 20.

Oh. I love Haku/Zabuza. :) It's very sweet. ;p
Then again... naruto has so many possibilities. My personal favourites are: Kisame/Itachi, Naruto/Sasuke (especially during Shippuuden), Kakashi/Iruka and Kiba/Shino.

non-cannon yaoi... lets not open that can of worms.

I think this thread should be titled "Yaoi/Shonen-ai", considering most of what's been mentioned here appears to be shoenen-ai, rather than "extreme, graphic, boy-on-boy sex" (which isn't a fitting description for most yaoi, anyway!).
Personally, I haven't seen or read any yaoi at all. I do know quite a lot about it, though, mainly due to a friend who talks about it an awful lot. The only thing related to shoenen-ai I've ever read is Antique Bakery, which is unfairly lumped into the BL category, when in reality there's just one gay main character and a few romance sub-plots in the 4-volume series.
They were 'together'? Are you sure that's not just some wishful thinking on behalf of the yaoi fangirls? I did watch the first 40 or so eps of Naruto on TV, so that aspect could have been cut .... ?

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf mutes.

Will do.

Well... the way Zabuza talks about Haku... it makes it seem like they could have been together. I mean, Haku is the ONLY person that Zabuza cares about. And, he avenges his death. So... whether they were an actual couple or Zabuza was just a little overly fond of Haku, we don't know...

I recently watched Enzai. It is a classified yaoi. Downloaded it from the secret spot at pixiesticks.org (the haven for the yaoi. ;p)
Main character: a ... teenager? named Guys. He is out one day with his friends and they try to steal from a small store. When the owner notices what they're doing, they run away and are separated from one another. Then, Guys is caught by someone and taken to jail... on charges of murder. Wrong accused, Guys goes to jail and is immediately raped. While trying to figure out who actually did kill that man Guys was framed as murdering, many relationships occur and many acts are commited. Based off a yaoi computer game of the same title, the game has many different outcomes and is uncensored.
Audio: 5
Visual: 2 (censored!! DAMMIT!! ... I don't think an uncensored version of the OVA's exists!)
Plot: 6 (the trial at the end is quite elaborate, yet annoying if you are just looking for the sex. Yet, the whole concept of what's going on isn't very clear. It probably would make more sense if one were to play the game)
Character Development: 3. Some characters are developed... others, though, you don't even get why they're having sex with Guys... It's confusing.
Overall: 3. Not the greatest yaoi ever made. The sex scenes weren't long enough, the characters weren't well rounded... the backgrounds weren't explained at all, really. Too many questions for a yaoi that wasn't made to be questionable.

Consider his final words, the tears, and how he touches his face right at the end. They even make a point of having Naruto think Haku's a girl at first, even to the point of "he's even cuter than Sakura-chan!" Plus at the beginning, "Do you want to be needed by someone?" "Are you ready to give everything to me?" yeah..

Yes, good point. ;p
I was trying to say that but... I couldn't... heh. ;p
So, I consider Zabuza/Haku more canon than it might be... but... whatever... I think that Kisame/Itachi is almost obvious!
But... anyway, No more talk of non-canon BL!! ;p
BACK TO THE TRUE HOT YAOI!!! (or... at least the canon boy love.)

The terminology is highly fashion sensitive. Shounen-ai is pretty archaic, having fallen by the wayside along with "june" as a term for the romance end of the spectrum. And then there's the distinction between Japanese usage and the weeaboo tendency amongst western fans.
You're better off just using yaoi for the whole male spectrum like yuri for female (with shoujo-ai being an out-of-fashion weeaboo coinage matching the obsolete shounen-ai).
For some reason, I don't personally have any titles to recommend (apart from Utena, again, but it's in much smaller doses, there). People do refer to Battle Fairy Yukikaze as "Brokeback Airplane", but on the basis of the first episode, the actual storytelling is too weak.

besides, if you want a thread extensive enough to merit splitting yuri and yaoi into further sub-categories, this probably isn't the right forum for it.
