In a sense you're quite lucky. At least you don't have to encounter many people who utter gems such as this: "OMGOMG LIEK SHESSY-SAMA IS SOOOO HOT!1111!!!"
Well, to be fair...he is pretty hot.
*swoon*
I'm at a crossroads when it comes to anime. Except for a handfull of friends and aquantances, most people I know roll their eyes when it comes to anime.
This is, as I'm slowly realizing now, a mixed blessing.
Right now, anime seems to be at a boom in both Japan and North America, if not around the globe. Series are being liscenced and dubbed faster than you can tug on the mask of the ol' lone ranger.
Personally, I think this could be bad.
Why? Well, for starters, I dislike a lot of english dubs. I'm not saying I won't watch them, I'm just saying that there's definetly room for improvement.
R.O.D. the tv stands vividly out in my mind. I loved the series when it was first released (and then later fansubbed :) ). Listening to the english voices now makes me kinda sick.
My biggest fear is how my favorite series (aside from Eva) will be handled:
Naruto.
I've read the Shonen Jump translations and...to be frank, they suck. They've completely changed, or "translated" almost everything, pretty much killing almost every link it once had to Japan.
Once again, am I the only one who thinks this way?
If so, maybe I'm being to critical, and should just enjoy the large quantity of anime/manga coming out. Putting quibles aside.
Oh well, zeeeen!
