The ending of Rebellion screamed sequel bait : with Akuma Homura's universe is presented as unstable, Madoka who can start to rejoin her goddess side at the minimal trigger, Sayaka swearing that she'll forever remember that Homura is a demon, the later promising that they will have their fight one day and her comment to Madoka that sooner or later they'll becomes enemies, the only thing that lacked was a big "To be continued in next season/movie" after Homura jumped off that cliff.

Even the creators admitted that they made that movie with the objective to continue the story. The only questions left are the format it'll have (movie of series) and when it'll be released.

Although I admit that it would had been very ballsy to end the story here, with the now übermensch Homura bringing down a goddess and rewriting the universe following her wishes. It could had been a metaphor on how mankind got past superstitions with the power of their will and the dare to act against long established conventions or something like that!

I'm probably going to see it, if only to get a conclusion or more sequel bait. I'm a sucker like that (and I also like PMMM as long as it doesn't totally suck or pull a Lucas.)

There's an unsettling amount of art featuring her in armpit fetish positions, though.

Must be the fact that she's shoulder bared under that cape.

I think.

EDIT : Anyway all these kawai-moe images of the characters gets tiring, let's change with a picture drawn in a Western Style from a popular American artist :

Aniplex US made my day today when the announced the bi-lingual release date for the first two PMMM movies. Even though I own the series, I've been hanging out for any news on the movies getting a dubbed release since I saw Rebellion earlier this year.

15th of July.

Will be importing both of these.

Gen "Urobutcher" Urobuchi, the writer of Madoka Magica (And Fate/Zero, Psycho Pass etc.) comes to Finland's Frostbite anime convention in 2015.

Here's link: https://desucon.fi/desucon2014/uutiset/2014/06/gen-urobuchi-frostbiteen-2015/ Those who can't read the master race language, they just tell what Gen has worked on in the past.

The same person who those movie poster fanart pieces has now made parody album covers. Maybe it's because I don't visit fanart sites too often, but I think this guy is pretty unique compared to other people who draw fanart.

People love some magical girl action, I guess. ^_^ Although, I guess I'm not overly surprised. It's got a big fanbase. (That, and animation is treated differently in Japan than in the US.)

Taken from /a/, but this is apparently real:
From AX2014 Gen panel:

>魔法少女まどかマギカは、勢いに任せて書ききった作品。当初はまさかこれほど世界中の人々に見られるようなアニメになるとは思っていなかったと述べ、続編については、今、必死にシャフトと一緒に続きを考えている最中。

>Gen wrote PMMM with momentum from the very beginning to the conclusion. He didn't expect this show would become this famous and got many fans world-widely. On a sequel, he's now thinking its continuation desperately with Shaft.

I knew this was most likely coming, but I still don't know how I feel about it.
I guess anxious would be the best word for it.

Same here. Cautiously optimistic for the time being.

"Sequel" can also be translated as "continuation". (Happy to see the Japanese included.) Either way I'd personally rather see a Movie 4 (being the final thing?) than a TV series but I'm a weirdo like that.

Wasn't it clear since Rebellion was released that the series would continue?

It needs to continue. The ending of Rebellion was an abomination that needs to be resolved.
For my post-3I fic, go here.
The law doesn't protect people. People protect the law. -- Akane Tsunemori, Psycho-Pass
People's deaths are to be mourned. The ability to save people should be celebrated. Life itself should be exalted. -- Volken Macmani, Tatakau Shisho: The Book of Bantorra
I hate myself. But maybe I can learn to love myself. Maybe it's okay for me to be here! That's right! I'm me, nothing more, nothing less! I'm me. I want to be me! I want to be here! And it's okay for me to be here! -- Shinji Ikari, Neon Genesis Evangelion
Yes, I know. You thought it would be something about Asuka. You're such idiots.
