KILL ME BABY !!! YaY !!!
What a coincidence that a human back arc bridge pose will show up in 2 anime in the same season!
I read that by this episode the story has departed significantly from the original novel. Not sure if this means the anime would be wrapped up neatly and some story may be left open for a possible 2nd season.....
I never thought I would come back to Evangelion after EoE,

Thank God! I'd be spitting blood if this crap was in the novel.

Adaptations usually involve some changes in every aspect of the story, especially if the original author wants to "shake things up" (one of my favorite examples was Angels and Demons, in which the movie does not include potentially controversial content that took several pages).
Although I haven't read the book, in there Izumi was more of a supporting character than in the show, where she has more airtime and therefore entangled in what appears to be a faint hints of a love triangle. Of course, I don't think the book talks of Ogura's demise coming to that kind of end.
Also, from what I heard the novel's ending was pretty different.

lol, the white-haired teacher molted in the last episode to my favorite with lines like: "this isn't normal. *straightface*" or "students shouldn't do stupid things... like killing each other"
LMAO
Also, the directing got even worse: "what? your friend died? lol, I'mma goin' to search for Misaki in this burning house!!" - "ok, lol".
Also, gotta love convenient explosions.
But I have to admit, that the conclusion was great and unexpected...
This series was great, or as brick would call it: awesomely shitty!
Oh, and was ever explained why the curse started to begin with?

A class of kids collectively experiencing denial about someone that died damaged the fabric of reality.
The explanation was there, they glossed over it. Then they made up for it by replicating the ending of Evangelion 3.0 in the last episode. Through heavy metaphor. Except SPOILER actually kills SPOILER with a SPOILER.

Alright, just finished this series. Believe it or not I actually pulled an all-nighter last Saturday watching all 11 episodes that had been released; stayed up from about 1:00 am to 5:00 am. Man, what an epic ride that was @_@.
So, the finale left me a bit bitter, for two reasons: I was actually expecting more from the last few minutes, I sat there watching and waiting impatiently for either Mei or Kouchi to make a move on the other, but it was all sweet talk, oh well. The second reason is because it's over for now T_T, I truly enjoyed this show, it had a lot of unexpected yet amazing twists and surprises; it will take me about one or two weeks to get over my grief. I can't wait for the OVA coming out in a couple of months, at least we'll get more Mei. And speaking of Mei, she didn't turn out to be the girl I expected her to be; her character progression seemed a bit hasty to me, but it's a short series after all. Despite this, she managed to find her way into my heart, I want to glomp her and give her cookies
This was so great that I even changed my avatar to reflect my new-found love for the show and Mei.
Now, when I ran across these body pillow covers on the internet, I barked and howled so loudly that I woke the neighbors:
So lovely, want them badly
Awesome. Actually a couple of hours back I got an idea for a sequel: Several decades later, Mei and Kouichi are old and senile, all memories about the calamity have long vanished from their minds. They have been married for 50 years and moved to Tokyo ever since. They have a lot of grand-kids together, and one of their grand-kids is the new protagonist of the 2nd season and...on second thought, it's a mediocre idea, and I have no desire whatsoever to see a wrinkly-faced Mei. I recall reading somewhere that the author hasn't yet written a sequel for the novel, that he's only on the planning stages. If that's the case, it will be a while until we see a second season.
Still, here's my fingers crossed that this gets a sequel.

More likely the sequel could be placed in our current time: Everyone who survived the debacle of the inn have settled back to normal lives, have gone to college, graduated, then came back to start anew.
Of course, Kouichi and Mei were together all the way, from high school, to university, then took jobs and tied the knot, before deciding that nothing happened anymore at Yomiyama that it was all right to return.
They couldn't forget, though, visiting the graves of their classmates, paying their respects, remembering the times before the dying began.
But just as everything seemed to look fine, it was only Mei who first felt its return, to rip apart the peaceful atmosphere of the town, and then came the first deaths, but more terrible than the last.
From the same year and section -- Class 3-3 -- again.

That was a pretty lack-luster ending. I knew was the dead person, but it felt so weak. Too short, too rushed.

Utena figures out why the duelists are dueling but what the hell kind of answers does she get? Good heavens, I haven't seen an ending this frustrating in a long time. And I loved the first half of the show, although I had some doubts early on that the size of the victim/culprit pool might be too big for a 12-episode show to handle. I was expecting some redshirt deaths, but the finale just went full retard. The moody first half made me expect something a bit more cerebral than Michael Bay's Here's Johnny.
Jesus Christ, the ending "twist" only works because the show is withholding critical information that the characters know from the viewers! I understand that this is not a classic whodunnit, but that's still cheating. And what's that? Mei has a hax Shining-type ability that could have enabled her to save untold lives, but she chose not to do so? Yeah, makes total sense, what with the curse being "non-malicious" and all. And I just adore how in the epilogue the surviving characters flat-out admit that they were idiotic twats, warning the future students not to repeat the same retarded mistakes. WAIT, WHY ARE YOU HIDING THAT LIFE-SAVING INFORMATION? IN FACT, WHY BOTHER AT ALL WITH HIDDEN TAPED MESSAGES? JUST HAVE MEI SCAN THE NEXT YEAR'S CLASS AT THE OPENING CEREMONY AND LET CAPTAIN OBVIOUS EXORCISE THE GHOST WITH A WELL-PLACED BULLET.
I'm so frustrated. If only Kircheis were here.
