Believe it or not, Death Billiards receives a full fledged TV-series. If that short was any indication, this will be a pretty cool show.

Hopefully they'll explain a lot more about what's going on, as the short didn't make much of it clear.

Yuri Kuma Arashi update time! The first PV is finally here!

ANN has a translation of the synopsis that appeared recently on the official site and... well, it sounds fabulously ridiculous even by Ikuhara's standards:

SPOILER: Show

Some time ago, the asteroid Kumaria exploded in the depths of space.

The resulting fragments became a meteor shower that rained down on Earth, and for some reason, bears all over the world rose up and attacked humanity! In "Man vs. Bear," the bears ate the humans and the humans shot the bears, resulting in a seemingly unending battle and a cycle of hatred. In the end, a giant "Wall of Extinction" was erected between the humans and bears and a state of mutual nonaggression came to pass….

The human world.

One morning, Arashigaoka Academy students Kureha Tsubaki and Sumika Izumino were by themselves and saw the "Yuri Flower" that bloomed in a flower bed. The two are friends as well as lovers. The flower bed is an important place to the two. At that moment, the Bear Alarms ring out! The bears are invading the human world, and humans are being attacked! Are they really those bears? One mystery invokes yet another mystery, one after another. The curtain rises magnificently on Yuri Kuma Arashi!

I really liked Shaft Ep of Penguindrum but I honestly wish the aesthetic they go for wouldn't emulate Shaft too much. It's just got pretty tiresome and routine in its own way over the years. It's like "here's le artsy and le edgy in execution" template for lazy aesthetic choices in artsy modern anime. Ikuni can do much more than just ape Shinbo team so I hope finished show strays away from lite-Shaftness dominance.

Ikuhara working with a Shaft aesthetic is like saying that Kubrick was working under a Hitchcock guideline.

NoitaminA does exactly what it shouldn't.

I mean, this is the biggest accumulation of clichés I've seen in a while.

Yūta Iritatsu, the protagonist whose spirit has been separated from his body.

Mikatan Narukino, a bright and spacey idol.

Lovera Chichibu, a gal-style fishy spiritual medium.

Ito Hikiotani, a NEET who plays online games.

Meika Taihatsu, a genius inventor who loves her grandfather.

The slogan for the anime is, "Once he sees underwear, humanity is destroyed!?"

I really dig the designs, though. We have a Lal'c/Raraya and that Nerd-Chick from Schoobie-Doo! Also, Nono!

"Noitamina" hasn't been doing what it should be doing for a long, long time by now. Freaking Guilty Crown was NoitaminA series, this is tame (or should I say wild) in comparison.

Yeah, the designs look great, but the premise doesn't seem that appealing. The two mystery shows appear to be more interesting to me at this point.

After the first full trailer with actual footage of Yuri Kuma Arashi, I have high expectations, even if the voices seem to fall into the high-pitched category. But in Ikuhara I trust.
