Caught up on all my shows.

GoSick was awesome as always. <3 Cordelia's seiyu.
PREDICTION  SPOILER: Show
She's the one hiding in the chess puppet. Remember a couple episodes earlier when the men had to be careful carrying it...

I'm addicted to Ore-tachi and I don't know why... It's defiantly not memorable but I can't help liking it.....

Hanasaku Iroha is good. I like that they include the romance between her and her friend in every episode while focusing on other things.

Nichijou. This is one of the very few shows I watch all of the OP and ED every episode. I LOVE them. The ED is so adorable.. This is also one of the few shows that makes me laugh out loud like a crazy person. Principal VS The Deer. LOL! I think the Rock, Paper, Scissors every episode is adorable as well.

Astarotte's Toy is my guilty pleasure. It's adorable, sexy, and there's a secret! I hope all new episodes involve the Queen..
Look! It's little Holo! (Her eyes will become more red when she hits puberty...)

OREIMO

I said in my spoiler post to InstrumentalityOne that 2ch did not have the part about Kuronkeo dumped in the novel, but has Kuroneko dumping somebody. That was enough to trigger crazy response by some fans. Not sure how it got translated into Kuroneko getting dumped in the novel... Anyway, looks like hoax-troller won another day with the unsuspecting fans got dragooned into helping from all around the world

@IrkenEvangelion

AstraLotte is an adorable show. It is definitely lolicon but it has a lot more hearts than just loli.

If you like Oretachi (I do as it is quite funny) see if you like its countryside counterpart Hoshi-kakaru Hashi.

@Alastor

I presume you were not being ironic. Just want to say that Kuroshitsuji is under shoujo genre (NOT shounen) and is also a popular fancy object for BL fujoshi too.

Macross Plus OVA 1- first impressions aren't great; it has that nice 90's look to it, though the screen is often very black.
It's usually a bad sign when I'm unable to recall the names of the MCs after watching, but we're only one quarter through...

Ninja Scroll- specifically the 2004 (10th Anniversary) release; living in the UK- I saw the cut 2000 release first. Just one reason living in England sucks.
The 2004 release restored 53 seconds of glorious rape action previously unseen in the UK. So then- 4 years is the time it takes for rape to be okay? Nice message; thanks a lot BBFC, you bunch of twats.
Did 53 seconds of plot-relevant molestation spoil the feature in any way? No. The movie is still highly entertaining despite the scene.

SDF Macross through episode 27:

SPOILER: Show
Image
Image

don't look so down, Hikaru, it could always be worse. For example you could be a colossal skank
Image

or dead
Image

instead you have a humongous phallic throttle all your own, inherited from Major Fucker - no coincidence I think
Image

---

Image
Image
Image
meanwhile the Zentradi are having a gay old time. I guess it's a good thing they couldn't fuck their way out of a paper bag because otherwise this army would collapse into one big unfortunate orgy

Image
Image
Image
Image
possibly involving Minmay

meanwhile, the bridge bunnies discuss Captain Global's war crimes with profound grace and understanding
Image
Image

even Hayase is moved by Shammy's eloquence
Image
Image

Hikaru wonders why girls dont seem to like him
Image

and reaches a pointed conclusion
Image

and in a moment which is actually quite well handled tells Minmay to go fuck Kaifun. although he kisses her first. Was he imagining that or remembering it? Anyway Global finaly finds his guts somewhere and tells Kaifun that he can also go fuck Kaifun

Image
Image

I don;t think I have any screenshots from episode 27 because it seriously impressed the hell out of me. Tremendous balls were involved in the writing of the episode, with an almost Annoesque dissonance as Minmay blithely simpers through her goddamn hit single for the 679564765473rd time, only this time hundreds of thousands of Zentradi ships are being destroyed and the Earth is being glassed in a really incredibly fucked up sequence (like little kid playing happily with soldier father before getting hiroshima'd onto a wall fucked up), mankind uses its own personal Death Star (and unlike previous episodes had been wishy-washily hinting this is portrayed as the good thing that it is), and really I don't have any words to describe how much oomph they manage to put into this, literally weaponizing Minmay's shitty idol pop to stun the Zentradi forces before they fuckin nuke and pave on em. not to mention there is some SERIOUSLY good animation in there suddenly I can understand where all the QUALITY was coming from in previous episodes. I feel like I recognized some Anno work in there although I'm not so familiar with his actual animation style as I would be for say Yoshinari or Iso Mitsuo. Anyway that was a hell of a an episode. Kind of wonder where they're going to go from here. Not too keen on the fact that they will probably be dragging out the love traingle still further when it has been dead for like twenty episodes now. But anyway I can see why the show is respected. Shit man.

Also the Fate/zero PV is out. Looks pretty good. I liked the LN reasonably well from what I can remember, and in general I don't think much of LN as a medium - but it was pretty engaging to me and suited Urobuchi's style well, so I'll be interested to see if he can translate it to anime. And of course the FSN end of the Nasuverse is always interesting lorewise.

Watched the rest of demon prince enma, the serious adaptation of dororon enma kun. Whats kinda cool is that even though this anime is a serious horror story they managed to keep all the main cast in character (Enma, Yuki, Kapaeru, Chappaji)

Kaiji Season 2 - I loved Season 1, Season 2 has me mildly worried because The Bog is probably going to drag worse than the last 13 episodes of the Akagi anime. I'll probably still end up liking it.

One Outs - I finally decided to pick this up when Kaiji S2 came out, it's pretty much Akagi with Baseball like I expected. Finished the final episode the other day. Good show, a little silly but entertaining.

A Crapton of R1 BD/DVDs - I watched my 1.11 and 2.22 BDs + The Platinum collection in English for the first time in my life to contribute to the Rebuild Dub thread. So I figure I'll finally sludge my way through the rest of my collection in English FOR SCIENCE DAMN IT. My ears will probably bleed, I'll probably die a little inside, but I've got nothing better to do.

I agree. However, they learned how it works and how to control how far messages are sent. Both the new member and the part timer seem like time travelers.. Suzuha defiantly is because of her comment about the past. Okabe's dream also was probably insight into future episodes. I'm glad that they have him showing emotion and sadness for Mayuri.

Finally decided to watch Denpa Onna To Seishun Otoko. I was going to drop it like a hot rock, but then episode 3 came along a changed things. I was very glad much of the silliness was dropped and most of the characters had some depth added to them. I really hope this show ins up going somewhere.

Picking up Bakemono, and then A-Channel and Gosick upon a lady friend's recommendation.

EDIT: Fuck, Denpa Onna really knows how to make me

Been watching Birdy the Mighty: Decode on Netflix since I hear it was pretty good and I like it so far. I'm up to Episode 6 and plan to read the manga after I'm done.

@chaz: withhold all judgment of Macross Plus until you've finished it. Although I'm not sure what you could be underwhelmed by so early. I'll link my short analysis after you post your thoughts on the whole thing to avoid inadvertent spoilers.

Also, Ninja Scroll is awesome. Have you watched any other Kawajiri works?

EDIT

Hal, that AMV was depressingly bad.

Watched a wildly uneven episode of Denpa Onna To Seishun Otoko and an excellent episode of Ano Hi Mita Hana.

Denpa made me rage hard in the first half( To much silliness and they turned the blue-haired girl into a spineless wimp), but the second half pulled things together just enough to prevent me from launching my remote through my TV screen. My hopes for this show have dimmed but haven't gone out entirely.

Ano on the other hand scored big on realism. I feared they might gloss over last weeks craziness and try to move immediately on to making everyone friends again but thankfully that didn't happen. It looks like things are going to be realistically screwed up for a good long while. Excellent news indeed.

Finished off Macross Plus.

Eps 2+3 were not without problems, the way they kept tip-toeing around the issue of seven years ago- never giving us any real hints as to what the hell went down was frustrating, and in the meantime the male leads just came across as jerks in equal measure. At least they had Sharon sequences. Those were cool.

My verdict at this point was- “It’s alright, I guess.”

Then we get ep4, containing what surely has to be the best plane/mech battle ever, for its action, animation and emotion (not forgetting a little humour). A very good ending. Lots of crazy crap was going down, but I was interested in the story, not the explanations; this was one area EoE failed me.

Not a favourite, but it gets the thumbs up from me. Not a bad purchase for £2 at all (my drama aside).

@Merri: I’ve Only seen Wicked City besides the Scroll, mind you- this was a censored, VHS release with dub track only.
Near the end, Giuseppi Mayart utters something along the lines of "There's definitely a bun in that oven".
So Streamline or Manga UK dub? You tell me.

This was a casual lend from a work colleague and I certainly wasn't expecting to see what I did when I watched it the first time!
Maybe it's worth tracking down again...if nothing else- it should be a good antidote for the far more horrific productions of recent years (see above image).

I trust the opinions of anyone who loves Sailor Mercury; so what would you recommend of the work of Kawajiri?

Watched Gosick. It was a pretty standard episode with Kujo missing the obvious at every turn and Victorique acting as weak as humanely possible. Quite the shame considering how good this show can be when it feels like it.
