When I started watching this I was like
"Why would I like this."
Then at episode 3 I was like.
"Well, that happened. THE PLOT THICKENS."

Italy AND San Marino, I wonder and hope, since I'm living there, if they're going to screen it in middle Italy at least.
So let’s make a wish.

I hope when they release the blu-rays of the movies, they will be incredibly expensive and include lots of bullshit trinkets that nobody cares about. Just like they did with the TV show.

Why can't they do something like this with EVA?
God, if the 3rd EVA movie screens anywhere in Europe, I'll be there.

The pricetag that is also a sore point. Yes, Aniplex wants them priced that high instead of American cheap because reverse importation is what they don't like to see apart from trying to recoup costs in a dwindling market switching over to hallyu culture and reality TV.

I have read everywhere that the Japanese companies are paranoid about reverse importation, but I'd like to know how much this actually happens. I'd love to see some actual numbers showing how many Japanese otaku buy American anime dvd's/blu-rays.

Intuitively the combination of common BD region code, US dollar worth shit and high Japanese prices could have increased this phenomenon during the last years but I never saw any actual data.

We now know how long each movie is:

[劇場版 魔法少女まどか☆マギカ 〔前編〕始まりの物語 上映時間:130分 ]
Madoka Magica movie 1 of 2 - The story at beginning 130 min

[劇場版 魔法少女まどか☆マギカ 〔後編〕永遠の物語 上映時間:109分 ]
Madoka Magica movie 2 of 2 - The everlasting story 109 min

In total it is 239min which is, as rumor has it, a full 4 hour feat. As each TV episode, not counting OP and ED, is around 23-24 min long, 4 hour means around a length of almost 10 TV episodes, which means the "summary" may not really be so much a summary but a retell of the whole story after all.

Are these new original movies or a clipshow movie? I hope these aren't clipshows, cuz it'd be cool to have a proper modoka movie.

As I understand the whole movies are to be redrawn, and from various seiyuu reports the voice recording is redone all over again (*). However, we do not know if the structure of the 2 movies will just follow the original TV series strictly or the story will be retold in some other way.

(*) For example, this was mentioned in the recent blog entry by Madoka's seiyuu Aoi Yuuki ( http://aoitown.com/cgi-local/aoiblog/diary.cgi?no=568 ) in which Aoi also said all of them just cried profusely again going through the recording. She also drew a crying Madoka in her blog - check it out.

Once again another movie that I wish to see in theaters thats too far away. Why two in Cali? Have some sympathy for those on the east coast.
It's difficult in times like these; ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality.
It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical.
Yet I cling to them because I believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.

:w00: Chicago isn't even that far from me, that being said I don't know if I'd drive there just to see 2 Recap movies. If it was original I would definetly do it.
My truth will be my own and not the one they gave me.
