I meant to post sooner but it's been quite busy with C81 and other related info. The official PSP game site has the updated vid as well as pages on the characters and on Mami's Candeloro witch form as well if you check it out. http://madoka-magica-game.channel.or.jp/ There may be regional restrictions. Someone also did another translation related to the game: http://wiki.puella-magi.net/File:Dengeki_PlayStation_2012-01-12_05.jpg

It is revealed that there exist perspectives of not only Kyubey but also Homura. During playing, it is found to be able to play Homura route, from Homura's perspective. What is Homura's action in Kyubey's perspective? And what action will you players take? It can be a funny route. The scenes and events about Kyubey and Homura can even be affected by playing from Kyubey's perspective. Details will be reported later.

Contents of the special video disk which is shipped with both versions are also revealed.
*Video of Magical girl gameplay - With the game, you can have a funny different development from the anime. When you think "I played it this way but why does it become like that?" The seiyuu may think the same way. And let's see how the seiyuu play the game actually.
*Game original design by Gekidan Inu Curry - Game original design of witches, familiars and dungeons by Gekidan Inu Curry. It is very valuable since you can only see them here.
*BGM composed by NitroPlus - The BGM of the game is composed by NitroPlus who received good comments on the music. It's the sound showing the view of world of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.
*Character Introduction gallery - It collects all the characters standing poses in the game. You can play them with your favorite expressions and clothes.
*Comments to the game from the seiyuu - Please read the supporting comments from the seiyuu who also play the magical girls' roles. There might even be some pictures drawn by them.
*Wallpaper for PS3 - Use this original wallpaper to decorate the menu of your PS3.
*Wallpaper for PC - Use this wallpaper to decorate your desktop.
*Event gallery with password input - If you, being Kyubey, collect enough emotion values, you can get a password as a reward. The event gallery can be opened by entering that password. Illustrations in the game can be viewed beautifully on a big screen.
QB: "Collect the energy from emotions and open the gallery."

In other news, new info and pics on the Key Animation Note. http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Puella_Magi_Production_Note#Key_Animation_Note There will be 6 volumes in total.

Volume 2 - Eps. 1-3, Mami, 176 pgs. Release date 3/31/2012.
Volume 3 - Eps. 4-6, Sayaka, 176 pgs. Release date 4/30/2012.
Volume 4 - Eps. 7-9, Kyoko, 256pgs. Release date 5/31/2012.
Volume 5 - Ep. 10, Homura, 256pgs. Release date 7/31/2012.
Volume 6 - Eps. 11-12, Madoka, 288pgs. Release date 8/31/2012.

Purchase info: http://www.toranoana.jp/mailorder/cot/pagekit/0000/00/04/000000048695/index.html

The covers looks good for volume 1. It seems to also include pages on other things outside the OP that were made for trolling purposes that never made it in the anime...like the art of Homura helping Madoka shoot her bow. Image

In the Movic Madoka Exhibit, there is audio that accompanies each of the girls exhibit. One person translated a part from Kyouko's exhibit. You can see the usual friendly fighting relationship between Kyouko and Sayaka.
http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Movic_Madoka_Magica_Exhibit#Audio_Translation

Kyouko: Kuu kai?
Sayaka: Whatever, it's probably just some ill gotten goods again..
Kyouko: Quit sweatin' the small stuff. Man, you're as hard headed as always.
Sayaka: Of course. After all, I'm an ally of justice.
Kyouko: Haa.. do you really have to bring that up now..?
Sayaka: Well, I am the protector of Mitakihara, Mahou Shoujo Sayaka-chan, after all!
Kyouko: Eh?....what...? pf! "Mahou Shoujo Sayaka-chan"? Ahahaha Ahahaha!
Sayaka: er..uhh...forget it! Forget that just now!
Kyouko: What's wrong, Mahou Shoujo Sa~yaka-cha~n?
Sayaka: Sh-shut up!

So 2ch was looking at interviews with some top people in the industry on games for 2011 and 2012. Madoka PSP game made it into the conversations, mostly what they liked the anime and the elements they thought were interesting being brought into the game, e.g. Gen Urobuchi scenarios, Inu Curry witch art etc. http://www.4gamer.net/games/000/G000000/20111221108/ 2ch was laughing at one particular one on this page with Naotaka Hayashi, the scenario writer for Steins;Gate. http://www.4gamer.net/games/000/G000000/20111221108/index_8.html I was puzzled because at first glance it seemed like an understandable review that a guy who wrote S;G would like Madoka Magica since there's some similarities between the two with time travel, parallel universes etc. Then I saw the end of the interview: ちなみに杏子は俺の嫁です。 So it seems Aoi Yuuki is not the only one who sees Kyouko Sakura as waifu/marriage material.

Lots of Homura dog walking poster photoshops...posting just a couple examples (spoilered for size):

Hm, I'll save the Comiket stuff for another post since it's still in progress and this post is rather lengthy already.

Then I saw the end of the interview: ちなみに杏子は俺の嫁です。
Haha, excellent. Also, on that note, man, those episode commentaries really are are hilarious to listen to every time Aoi starts gushing about Kyoko.

Again trying to wait a bit longer to do a more complete reply post only means never being able to catch up. Just a pick of some quick reply but I just have to post it today...

View Original Postsoul.assassin wrote:Well, on a good note, despite her initial misgivings... one of my favorite bloggers declared Madoka as one of best shows of the year. :)

http://okazu.blogspot.com/2011/12/top-t ... -2011.html

It just shows how hard it is to find TEN yuri anime in one year.
BAD - YuruYuri no good... no no no... (at least she is broadminded enough to allow it a 3rd spot)
Not to say having to dragoon Koi Hime Musou and stuff in an old series Utena to round up the list of ten....
But all is forgiven as Madoka got the top spot :)

View Original PostVeers wrote:"Defeat" just felt too generic to me. Kyoko is not generic, she is sprited. My changes were partly for subtitle timing purposes, partly because I felt GG's translation, while accurate, lacked spirit. Another way I had considered wording it was "beat her to a pulp" (in hindsight, I should probably change it to something more like this, because that's the same subtitle wording used in Kyoko's line to Madoka on the way to Octavia).

Honestly to me the phrase "beat her to a pulp" still sounds too gangster-ish. The words Kyouko spoke do not convey much of a feel of gangster. To convey the spirits, using "crush her" is good enough I think.

So why I have to post today? Because I want to wish Randomanon a happy birthday :w00:

Rnadomanon: You should take a look at the Birthday thread in Off-Topic section. Quite a few people there also wish you a happy birthday.

With all the 1/1 birthdays today, I was wondering whether that was a real birthday, or an official "EGF birthday"... But in the absence of further information it shall be celebrated! Happy Birthday Randomanon, and may all your wishes come without contract!

If this New Year's day is a holiday for you, here's a short organ tune. It would be a good background for contemplation, perhaps.

The mere mention of chess pieces suddenly reminded me of GZA's music. No, heck, must be one of the more amusing forms of merchandising I've seen today.

^ Key points:

Madoka: King
Homura: Queen

And the Queen is supposed to protect the King at all cost....

And the ANN article did not show the other pic that shows the PMMM chess pieces in more details

Instead of color / monochrome as the only distinction, wouldn't it be more collectible if the opposing pieces were characters from the manga titles? Overall, a good idea. Perhaps some amateurs will compete with them, and we'll get to see some alternate sculpts of this?

The only peeve I have is Homura's crown, which looks more like a tail end of an anti-tank missile shoved halfway into her head.

In case anyone is interested AmiAmi have put up the Animation Note volumes 1 & 2 for 'tentative pre-order':

http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail ... agecnt%3D1

http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail ... agecnt%3D1

From the product descriptions it seems they'll be getting a limited supply of them from C81...

I also noticed the Production Note is up for order again at CDJapan:

It's GENDO~

Maybe I'm being slow, but (just supposing) someone wanted to indulge their otakudom heavily, are their any studios yet producing 'making of' DVDs in tandem with their titles? What I mean is the image of large studio movie practice. The production often includes a documentary crew, so none of the 'live' activities are outside of the frame, even off the stage. Since anime is an 'indoor sport,' it comes down to a camcorder, somewhere to hang it, and guts for a minimum effort.

I'd probably buy subbed creative meetings, character design feedback and key animation reviews, if the editing left enough 'real' personality and event in the finished clips. Standing over the shoulders of most of the people who made Madoka Magica is perhaps the very best companion to the Notes that I could imagine.

>Sigh<.

Good news on the Production Note for anyone who missed earlier run! Thanks for the head's up on that, giuliano.

Surprised no one has posted this yet. Close up of NA box art was released the other day. Not too bad. Obviously it doesn't really capture the spirit of the show as well as another design could have, but maybe that's the point?

@Veers:

Yeah, it's nice-looking, I guess-- the gold font is a nice touch-- but it's still kinda boring. When Aniplex's producer guy talked about the American release of the series, when he said that it would be something that would make Japanese fans jealous (or something along those lines), I was hoping that utterly new art would adorn the boxes. Or, you know, something more recent than the first character art/promotional material that was ever released for this series.... even if they're the cute original Ume Aoki character designs.

Besides the unoriginality of the design, though, I'm a bit bothered that this almost guarantees that the other two cases are going to follow the same design-format-- with the colored circles and yet more character designs of the other characters. Granted, the consistency would be nice, and it would probably put collectors at ease (if I'm not mistaken, some were put off by the inconsistency b/w Funimation's BD releases of EVA 1.11 & 2.22), but still, it'd all be a bit boring to me.

However, even put this way, there's still some element of unpredictability that I'm not too sure what to make of. Seeing that the back of this one features Kyubey (you can see a photo on the official facebook page), it's plausible that sets 2 & 3 will also feature an Aoki Ume character design on each side. But the thing is... was there ever an "initial" character design art for Kyouko? I know she wasn't revealed at the start becasue she was kinda a "surprise" character, but still, I've yet to see a piece of Aoki Ume art of her holding her weapon. Of the 4 "slots" on the next 2 cases, only 3 would be taken up by previously established solo character design portraits-- Mami, Sayaka, & Homura. It'd be cool if there was an Aoki-drawn shot of Kyouko on one side of set 2 or 3, but I think this might be wishful thinking. But then what would they do to "plug in" the missing gap(s)? (Hope it's simply not more Kyubeys.)

Hmm... do you guys have any thoughts on what you want, or what you expect, out of the future releases?
