I've never seen any of the series, but I've heard a lot of the hype. I know Haikasoru (VIZ) is trying to get the license for the novels, so I'll definitely
be buying them if they do.

That would be quite some investment: As of now, 110 episodes are packed into 33 DVD/BD discs packed into 4 DVD/BD box sets. Here you can see the BD/DVD box and individual DVD packages. The official website is still up and running (it's in Japanese).

I was talking about the books, not the anime. Haikasoru publishes Japanese sci-fi novels in English. :D

Missed you mentioning it's license for the novels...
That'd be much less costly -- only 14 volumes to grab :D

Yes, and it's possible they could even combine some novels together so there's less books to buy. For instance, they released Mardock Scramble in the US as one big 800-page book instead of three books, as it originally was in Japan. I guess it's harder to sell serial novels over here.

They get requests for Legend of the Galactic Heroes all the time apparently, so hopefully they'll get the license soon!

I finally finished this series. My internet went out, so I marathoned the 70 episodes I had left over the course of like 4 days. I can definitely see why it gets called the best anime of all time.

4 days is pretty hardcore. I think it took me 2 weeks to get through the series.

I suggest watching Conquest of the sea of stars immediately.

I watched it before I'd even started the series, it definitely got me interested in the series. I watched everything so far except A Hundred Billion Stars, A Hundred Billion Lights, and Spiral Labyrinth

I gotta say, LoGH is the best anything I've ever watched: movies, series, non-anime and anime. It's probably even in the top 10 of things I've watched /and/ read.

It goes faster than you'd think, I should note.

And are we, as a fanbase, really that insufferable?

Awww I love this anime! I love the two protagonists, -but most of all, Reinhard-, because they're not only cute, but they're such geniuses and have these amazing personalities. I just love it: I hope they license this piece of art here in Europe. I'm just such a huge fangirl of this show.

Some parts have been licensed in France in the not too distant past, I believe.

Yes, but in France! I want it here, in Spain! Otherwise, I'll have to go to France, find it, and hope there are English or Spanish subs in it! And I highly doubt it'll include such subs.

Just started watching this and finished watching My Conquest is the Sea Of Stars, because that happens chronologically first, right?

Holy shit, too many characters to remember names for all them right now, but I'm positive I'll get to know them better over time. Everything about the final third of the film was great. Loved the use of Bolero. Moving on now to Overture to a New War before starting the series proper.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

I would like so much to produce a live-action series of this; LOGH with the graphics of Battlestar Galactica jajaja.

Not sure who of you has twitter but a publisher is having a twitter survey for interest in LOGH book translations. Reception doesn't look bad.

Done! I'm at episode 22 right now, and I'd say this would be in my top 5 fav anime already.
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever
