I think we have to define "people" here. I honestly think we can't pre-figure the "general public" reaction. Judging by basic standards I would make the guess that it would be more pleasing to have everyone die temporarily than to have everyone die permanently and just end it that way. It doesn't really take much explaining, Yui, Kaworu, & Rei can do that.

How much time would it take to make it effective? It would need a good director, but it could be pulled off.

Yes, it may happen, it just may work. We need a movie director who has been under the influence of Eva, anime, and Uranus (it's a planet, who knew?) for most of their life.Image Image Image Image

I need to write and direct this movie. I will start with all the "flashbacks" from Episodes 5, 13, 21, and 22, and Asuka will be removed altogether. Then everyone is happy because the story isn't being told backward and there's no Asuka to suck all the emotion and depth out of everything like she did in episodes 8-21.

Seriously though, I would probably leave Asuka out of the first movie and introduce her in the second.

Uhh... since when is Evangelion's story told backwards? and since when does Asuka have anything to do with it? Removing Asuka would remove tons and tons of emotion from Evangelion, by the tub full. First of all there is her cruelty, it's powerful. That episode with Shinji getting consumed by the angel wouldn't be anything without Asuka's cruelty. Secondly, there's Asuka's life an background, you can't help but to feel sorry for her. And furthermore, there's the famous EoE scene of her final stand. Image

You have a point there, Asuka is a major part of the story, and it wouldn't look right without her.

Never the less, the director will probably actually do something as stupid as what Fuzzy Chickens suggsted. Or something worse.

I'd put Asuka in the sequel, of course... bakas, did you think I'd remove her from the WHOLE story arc? Come on... sequels are allowed/expected to suck, so there's plenty of room for Asuka in later movies.

A Matrix ar a Star Trek sure, but not an Evangelion sequel.

No. :hmph:

And it would only suck if Asuka was not in it. She's a little brat sure, but a very interesting little brat. And an essential to the point of the strory little brat.

That was the idea. I used that troll in a doctored image I did to celebrate FC's advent upon our beloved forum and subsequently suggested that he make the troll his avatar. To my surprise, he conceded -- I think it fits him rather well, don't you? Image

Stupidly enough, I found the picture here. Just check out that context, baby!

I believe it's the general opinion that "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" beats the hell out of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture."

Yes, seriously, someone needs to start working on it, or this thread will be useless.

Anyway, the sequels Must Not Suck! It needs to be that the sequels will be better[/u] than the first one. Then people will be excited to see the sequels and won't care whenever they introduce Asuka, or everyone dies, because it will be a good movie!

Check out the LAEM conceptual art that has been released. LAEM's version of the character we know as Asuka has been horrendously renamed "Kate Rose". And then there's "Ray" and "Susan" something... Image

Ahhhhhhhhhh! Noooooooo! It can't be! I can't let this happen! Why change the names?!?! They were perfectly good names! Answer me truthfully, which is better: "Kate Rose" (I'm currently wearing a look of disgust) or Asuka Langly Soryu?
