But considering this movie is most likely going to be about a space-alien invasion, that kind of redesigning only stands to reason. :hmph:

Well.. a space alien invasion movie would result in Evangelion as a whole being appallingly ugly, as Reichu accurately put it. Atleast the way I see it.... Evangelion was no space oriented story. You shouldn't change the nature of the setting or conflict if you're making something into a movie. Most novels that are turned into movies keep generally the same characteristics, that's the only way to go.

Actualy, that was Lama Su.

But back to LAEM: Making it appear to be about an alien invasion my might be a good diversion from the mystery of the the Angels. For people who aren't familiar with the anime anyway.

Yes, you may be right, but you can't deny that mystery is a huge part of Evangelion. But actually, I don't mind if they made the angels run-of-the-mill alien invaders (though a cooler, possibly biblical name would make them sound a lot better) just as long as they don't look cheezy or steriotypical.

unfortunately they are trying to avoid biblical. Maybe people who the Bible doesn't cast in good light would work.

"The the" Angels... Image

In the anime, you originally don't have any idea WHAT the angels are. For all the unsuspecting n00b knows, they could be alien invaders. Of course, they end up being something very different -- and that's what makes them so cool. Reducing Angels to alien invaders bent on destroying humanity is so droll compared to what's going on in the anime.

What about the idea that they will do this in pieces. If the first one works, they go through with more and reveal more.

They could do six movies:

First movie: Episodes 21 (the historical parts) and 1-6
Second movie: Episodes 8-10
Third movie: Episodes 11--12 and 14-16
Fourth movie: Episodes 17-20
Fifth movie: Episodes 22-24, plus the parts of ep 21 that take place in the present day.
Sixth movie: First half of EoE finished off by some happy Disney ending where the wicked witch (Asuka) dies and everyone goes back home to Kansas-3.

Or something.

Um, Fuzzy Chickens, if they make it at all like something Disney would come up with, I will gag and die. Personally, the only good thing to come from Disney is "Kingdom Hearts" and for that they needed SquareSoft (or SquareEnix now).

Anyway, They do need to make them into seperate movies, but, in my oppinion, they don't need cliffhanger endings. Also, I think they should keep the Angels true to the show. I mean, alien invaders is to clishe. And the fact that the Angels were alternatives to humanity was cool.

Aside from the fact that "Kansas-3" was my way of saying that the Disney bit was an obvious joke, I do think the ending should be changed in the sense that killing off all life on Earth will most likely not go over well with Western audiences.

And yeah, I know they're not technically dead, but you know what I mean.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But yes, the whole "humanity's destruction" thing might not go to well with critics and censors. Don't you hate them?

The greatest thing that ever could happen to the move industry would be to.... I don't know, get rid of critics and censors? I'd love to see reviews for a true Evangelion la movie where everyone dies (atleast temporarily)

Yep, get rid of censors and you'll make the world a better place! Ah, we can dream.

most people don't want to see a movie where people die temporarily. They don't want to think about death as being temporary. At least not most people who want to see a movie with big robots battles, which is how most people will think of this.

As true as that probably is, I honestly don't give a damn what people want to see. Image

"Do whatever you want, and you will find success."

Truly though, I have full confidence that an Evangelion movie with a truer ending would do better than one that strays from the ideas of the originals. It's not like everyone is just looking for a "Disney ending." After all, there are intelligent people out there, and Evangelion the anime series is one of the most popular anime ever in America, so there's got to be a market for endings like that.

another disney ending? Seeing everybody die would please many people. It's the temporary part and all the explaining that they don't want.
