If thats true I won't be able to leave the country (probably in the Peace Corps) until all the movie's press dies down.

Okay, so as far as I know, this movie is coming out. However, since I assure to myself everyday that as long as the actors they pick are seksi, then it should all work out to be goodness, and I have a more serious matter on my mind.

The Sound Track? What songs should be on it, what do you want the preview to be to, etc. etc.

Chop Suey - System of a Down
Seven Nation Army - White Stripes
Pepper - Butthole Surfers
Breathe - Prodigy

Can you imagin e the Asuka vs. production Eva's fight scene with Seven Nation army in the background, the hits and blood timed with the beat......

I'm skeptical it's even coming out. What we know is that ADV and Gainax would like to make a live-action Evangelion film, and they've done some production art to get a studio interested. However, what we don't know as of yet is whether or not any one of the "Big 7" studios has bit, because, really, if they intend to do this thing with their projected $100 million budget, they'll need outside investment.

After a spurt of announcements and articles from May to July, ADV's been rather mum on the status of the interest, if any, from major studios, perhaps because there is a studio interested but they still have to dot the "I"s and cross the "T"s and don't want to jeopardize spooking the studio they're courting by announcing too much too early, or it could be that no one is yet interested in funding the thing. Just too early to tell one way or the other.

I think the score to the Eva series was a terrific aspect of the show. Especially in the movies. The dark and moving orchestral scores augmented the emotional as well as physical tension beautifully.

Incorporating a bunch of flash-in-the-pan pop songs would only cheapen the project. I want to see Neon Genesis: Evangelion Live Action, not Matrix 4.

I also doubt that this movie will ever get off of the ground, first of all it's a funding nightmare, second of all the public will in all likelyhood turn against it the second they hear it's based off an anime. Barring those two situations the christian coalition will probably sh*t a solid gold brick over the movie and try to get it canned, and you know as well as i do that studio execs don't have the gall to stand up to religious groups

Exactly. Image Image

And although a lot of people are complaining about a live-action Eva being made, I'm actually curious enough to go see it no matter what.

I haven't been keeping up with this, but have there been any developments since the concept art?

Classical pieces, Fly Me to the Moon, The Thesis of a Cruel Angel, Komm Susser Todd... oh what the heck, just use the music from the anime. It worked once, it'll work again!

What's wrong with keeping the music from the series?

Those musics don't seem to attract that many Americans who spend their money in movies. Sure, the clssics will work but any songs with Japanese lyrics would be not so marketable, unless it's techno-ish where language doesn't matter.

The score from the sereis and EoE will work fine. It has absolutely no errors and fits the scenes like a glove.

Aha.. I was thinking that maybe since the entire point of the series is the rise to maturity that the music should fit the teenage life style, and since I am gonna make the wild assumption this movie is aimed for TV audiences, then songs such as the ones I listed would fit the tone much better. This isn't the same thign as the series kids, this is a movie, a live action movie, so yeah.

But teenagers are stupid. I should know, I was one. And fitting this movie to the angsty teen 'lifestyle' is just going to take away from its credibility.
