What do you mean by that question?

My Questions:
(no content ones either)
1) When are you going to start directing anime again?
2) Who are your biggest inspirations as far as directing and photography.
3)What would you have changed if your budget for project eva was a strong as it was for wings of hommenaise.
4)Would you please, for the love of all thats pure in this world, direct the live-action movie.
(and after I get punched for asking that question, I'll finish off with...)
5)Can I be your visionary protege in your next major project!?Image

The tv series ended long ago. We're not supposed to be discussing about it.

Eva manga, Eva games, Eva stuff being released right now are probably fine, but issues from a tv series that ended ages ago, and has the very clear message of "moving on", "growing up" (hell, the 2nd unit director even said it out loud)?

That's like saying once you watch Furi Kuri you can never talk about it... ever. Moving on does not mean forgetting and neglecting. Some things are to good to leave behind.

2- So why exactly am I seeing Rei merchandising too nuch?

3- When is Second Impact REALLY coming?

4- Where can I find the Eva version of the Dead Sea Scrolls?

5- Why did we never get to see EVA-04 in the TV series?

-o-; Oh man... aside from maybe #5, I don't think Anno-sama would be able to answer those. Image

I think it's pretty obvious that Anno did NOT write that. For one thing, Anno would be able to spell "Kaworu" correctly. For another thing, the tongue-in-cheek nature of the whole website is spelled out rather clearly on the website itself: Their tagline is "Anime you can trust ... from people you shouldn't."

C'mon, we all know how smart Amanda Winn Lee is. I'm honored that we have such a talented director in the industry that gave us that amazing series dub where some characters had 3 different actors. I love it so much I think I've watched it 3 or 4 times in the past 3 years! Even though I can think of 2 or 3 off the top of my head, it was very enlightening when she said on the director's commentary that the Japanese don't have a word for 'you'. I guess this 'anata' thing I've been hearing for so long is wrong. Or when she taught me that what I thought was katakana was actually kanji. Or when she taught us that forget any meaning Anno, Tsurumaki or anyone else from Gainax has stated, Eva is all about SEX and nothing else. Or when she told me on another forum that I have no right to criticize anything she's done until I've directed dubs too. Gotta love her, she's what makes Eva so good.

Strictly speaking, I believe she was saying there was no word for 'I' (as in "I feel sick" for komochi warui), but that's still an amazingly inane comment, either way...

That would still be drastically incorrect, as there are OODLES of ways to say "I" in Japanese (watashi, watakushi, atashi, boku, ore, and weirder things like oira, etc.). It's just not always necessary to specify the subject like it is in English, so you can get away with saying "feeling bad" (that's what kimochi warui literally means) and have it be understood as "I feel sick", or whatever.

Still, that quality of Japanese is, in my opinion, its most difficult aspect (like when I try to translate stuff).

I've always considered that one of the weirder aspects of Japanese; they have dozens and dozens of pronouns, but they tend to avoid using them. In Japanese, things are done, and feelings are felt, but they are often very vague about who is doing or feeling...

Feh. I'd rather keep the commentary and the dub seperate, except to criticize Amanda Winn Lee for toying with the latter. The commentary is the root of all evil. Image

What am I saying? It was 'I' she screwed up, not 'you'. Of course the Japanese have even more words for 'I'... Image

Considering that The Shinji/Asuka relationship started out as a comical relationship, why did it became so dark and bitter towards the end?

BTW I'm stuck in reception battalion and not a basic training yet. Stupid paper work.

Is there any truth behind that connection? I've heard rumours...

Depends on what you level of proof you require. I've never seen an interview with Anno where he says, "I love Miyamura Yuuko, but she rejected me, so now I'm sad." However I've read enough other supporting information over the years to make me believe it.
