Madman entertainment australia distributes 97% of Australia's and New Zealand's anime on DVD.

Every year (with an exception to last year) they host a Reel Anime festival that showcases the most popular and recent anime films in Japan.
I am here to announce that Evangelion 2.0 will be playing as part of this festival as announced in Madman's Anime Update magazine (2010 May/June issue pg. 12-13)

Just as a reference i scanned the magazine pages which reveal this awesome news.

It says that there will be more news in the next issue so don't be greedy. Just be thankful that were getting it before a Dub dvd release!

Well, its been a year since they said they were going to screen it. September last year's issue to be precise.
Then they said, "oh wait, no Reel Anime this year, too bad".

That's basically the god tier double feature right there.

Hell yeah Summer Wars.

Superior in every feasible way to 2.0 IMO. However the plot twists and turns in 2.0 will definitely set one up for the amazing satisfaction that is Summer Wars.

Fun Fact: Sadamoto was in charge for both of the character designs in those films.

Haven't seen Summer Wars yet but I'm hoping to get tickets for both when they go on pre-order!

The previous Reel Anime screenings have been all across Australia; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra. So its most likely they will screen in the same places again.

Like Fazmotron said, it's touring around, so i should be lucky enough to save the moolah and head to my town! Melbourne did have 1.0 2 years ago so hopefully that means something...fingers crossed. :)

When I saw the summer wars trailer the first thing I thought of was the first Digimon Movie, that kind of beautiful animation

Well, same director for the roughly a third/half of the English Digimon Movie. The English Digimon Movie is three Japanese movies. But yes. The similarities are especially blatant in the cyberspace scenes.

It's blatant in plot, too.

"Hey, a huge object is locked onto our location and going to kill us if we don't destroy the virus in less than 10 seconds!"

Missile, satellite, tomato, tomahto.

Oh yes, and having millions of random people join together for a final strike. Omnimon? Oh no, it's super Sailor Transformation Natsu!
We watched 'The Lion King' in my math class once. After it was over, the teacher passed out worksheets that said: "If the circle of life had a diamter of 46 inches..."

If Redline is at the festival I highly recommend checking that out as well. It is phenomenal.

I hope so! I'd like to see all of the films showing at ReelAnime, though if NME 1.0 shows here in Canberra I'll try and see it as well (yes, I'm aware that 1.01 has been out on DVD here since November... but I can't be stuffed!)
