Well, Wikipedia returns 5 ships and a class of aircraft carriers for the word "Illustrious", all of them belonging to the British Royal Navy. I found nothing else that is remotely similar to a ship so I think it's safe to assume she is part british.

I think the uniform is just to show that she goes to a different school.

I think the school is Japanese. There's a shot of Mari staring at Zeruel's cross shaped explosions and she appears to be wearing the school uniform. If she is, then either the school is Japanese or Zeruel attacked the UK, which is unlikely.

Speculation is one thing, but you're making unnecessary "either/or" statements.

First off, we can only guess the context for the "glowing crosses" scene -- we might think we know, but we actually don't. Also, for all we know, Mari will continue to wear the school uniform of wherever she came from despite the near-inevitability that she's going to transfer to 2-A. Why? Insert more speculation here.

Then, why not say that instead of indirectly telling me not to speculate. You could have just added that I missed that possibility. If speculation outside of what you believe bothers you then change the name of this thread to just discussion.
