That's not the only splash; but the later ones where other bits fall into the ocean have less sense of scale to them.

If he re-embodies after the prompt effects have died down, then there's a chance for some marginal scavenging to postpone the inevitable. And I still like the idea of the bodies formed through will and imagination being more than the original vessels--

Xard: EoE was bittersweet in terms of being a happy sad ending.

It's sad because of Shinji being reduced to this (going fucking nuts): http://evacommentary.org/episode-m26/m26_C469_big.jpg

But still hopeful with this (Asuka actually acting nice instead of having a monkey up her ass): http://evacommentary.org/episode-m26/m26_C477_b_big.jpg

Anyway, please get back on topic. (Though guess a split and merge works fine too?)

Is it official that RoE: Final will be a completely different ending than the original, or is it speculation?

<FraX> Yeah.

<Kederaji> Didn't even bother to ask me, just marked them "No."

well in EoE, the bittersweet ending, is still somewhat a speculation, not 100%. I would like a more concrete sort of Happy and sad ending, and more Eva battles I WANT MORE EVA BATTLES, EoE only had like 1 with Eva-02.

Though I'm hoping 3I does happen, and even after that, there will be one more epic battle with the Evangelions.

I thought the ending of EoE was marvelous. All of EoE was marvelous, to be honest. I will agree the ending was slightly bitter-sweet, and it left a long lasting feeling.

I do hope that the ending of Webuild will be good and maybe have some sort of closure, or if not closure at least a happy ending. I understand that closure could and would screw some things up.

I personally enjoyed the Psychological Thriller part of EVA more so than the actual mech battles, although those were pretty cool. I hope there's a lot more psychological elements in webuild 4.0

Uh, what? EOE had just as happy an ending as the TV ending, if you pay attention.

Oh please! It's depressing. Yes, it does show a glimpse of hope. Infact, I'll even say that the whole film was about hope. But the brutality, and sadness in the final scene is over-whelming, and can be very depressing. It definitly depressed me for a couple of weeks. And watching "Twin Peaks" at the same time didn't help either. But in the end, the TV ending is WAY more up-lifting, and optimistic. While the ending to "EoE" is pessimistic at best. I will admit that it is probably the most beautiful, disturbing, and thought provocking thing ever put on screen. But I cannot deny the sadness that it invokes inside of me.
The fate of destruction is also the joy of rebirth.

It's stange that "Evangelion" became such a hit. All the characters are so sick!- Hideaki Anno

EoE's ending is gritty and cynical but yet hopeful

Shinji and Asuka get married and leaves earth to save space from the evil angels.
No third impact.
