I wouldn't mind ADV getting it as their subs are halfway decent. Manga would be the worst choice for reason stated above (dubtitling). Since I am not going to listen to it I don't really care about the dub.

Maybe Manga has the right to all theatrical releases of Eva. I would prefer ADV over them, but I am actually going to bet Manga will get the rights.

USA release is February 22, 2008... WTF? There has not been an announcement of the first movie coming to the US. Who's the distributor? We can't have a release date without a distributor. I think whoever submitted that info on imdb and Wikipedia is just bored and wanted to make stuff up.

Gainax haven't released an official date for the R2JP DVD let alone the American release.

Hey, actually I have 5 gigabytes of webspace now, so I'll even host the entire avi file as it is. I'd also totally be willing to host it with subtitles, and a fandub. I'm thinking of doing my own fandub parody. I would reall like to see some new amvs on youtube for Rebuild of Evangelion now that we have the whole thing. I'm going to change the aspect ratio first before I upload it, should I also make it an mp4 file so that you can watch it on a PSP/Playstation 3/Video ipod or possibly an Xbox 360?

Even I recognised some of the lines in 1.0 from the TV series, and I don't know a lick of Japanese - so at least a partial fansub should be easy even if you don't know any Japanese at all, as you can just use the subs that came on your DVDs.

Personally I would like it in it's .avi format.

Here is the link http://systemshock1.centelia.org/Rebuild_1_CAM.mkv

To view it in the correct aspect ratio, play it in VLC player, right click the screen, click on aspect ratio, and set it to 16:9.

Is it possible that the DVD will be released without a dub? I’m sure most of us here could care less about the dub and if the distributor doesn’t bother with it we could probably get the DVD a lot sooner. Probably a pipe dream, eh?

I'd rather have a dub, for the sake of simplicity.

I would buy it (my region code is the same as Japan.. stupid region codes, stupid winning blu-ray that comes with codes) but I guess it doesn't come with english subs (or am I wrong?).. so... got to wait :(

According to my friend in Japan, almost 100% of the time, a sequel is released in the theatres around the same time a DVD/TV release of the previous movie, in order to promote each other. So, lacking any announcement date or advance ticket sales, it's possible 2.0 will be in theatres in May.
