Personality wise: Ha!Asuka or Q!Asuka?

This is a no brainer. Q!Asuka is the only one I can get behind without reservations.

I like both but there's a lot more going on with Asuka in part 3. And like a lot of the great character work in 3.0 it's all there on screen but is being told subtly in a series that has never been known for subtlety. Once you look past all the grand, in-your-face plot surface elements of the film the character work is pretty divine with Asuka & especially Misato being the best.

Plus as previously stated, she has an eyepatch. And a cool kitten ears cap.

Soryu > Q > Ha, because her giving up in Ha was pretty painful to watch.

Since Q shows us her development following on from Ha, I see no reason to choose - as they are both aspects of her.

Pretty much agree. I like the fact that she has her act together in Q, but they're the same person so it's hard to express a preference. I do hope she gets a chance to chill out and let go of some of that anger, though.

Q Asuka for me.

Q Asuka is the elite ace bad-ass that Sohryu and Hasuka claimed to be and shows it by deed instead of by word. One of the things I like most about her is that she doesn't tell anyone how great she is anymore. She just is good and none of her companions doubt it. But as others have said, I can't see them as distinct characters since one directly flows from the experiences of the other.

We're not supposed to see them as distinct characters, we're just supposed to pick which phase we prefer. Nothing anything especially odd about finding someone more likable during one part of their life than another.

As much as I've always leaned towards Asuka in her teenage years, I immensely enjoy witnessing an Asuka who's mentally more of an adult than before.

Misato is channeling Captain Nemo from The Secret of Blue Water, while Ritsuko is channeling Electra from the same show. Shinji is finally channeling his design gender-swapped, dark skin doppelganger Nadia.

While it's true she's channeling Nemo, Nemo himself was pretty much an amalgam of the original book Nemo, Okita and Harlock, so you could say Misato's indirectly channeling Harlock
