Twitter folks posted similar 3.0 CM that NTV had for 1.0 and 2.0 ( like what Kiro mentioned).

If we get an updated FINAL preview next Friday morning (North America time), that's when the Internet will have exploded.

Blargh, how boring.

It would have been double the fun to have a proper Q preview instead of the old one or some generic CM.

We had that 15 second version a few years back, even if it wasn't 100% accurate.

:headscratch: So, was a preview for Q shown, and was it the original one i.e. the one that showed events that didn't even happen in the movie and so were ultimately taken by us to be depictions of events that must have happened between the films? (And what's a "CM"? Googling such a short shorthand is no help.)

Yes but if they addressed it again now it could have given us a potential clue of whether we should ever expect the stuff in the original preview.

EDIT: Monk Ed, CM = commercial. What was shown was in the same style as the spam of 15 seconds trailers that lead up to the theatrical release.

I don't see why they would create a different preview for a movie that was already released.

Because they made the proper preview for 2.0 at the end of 1.0 when broadcasting it in 2009 after 2.0 was already released.

This was a missed opportunity IMO.

It's better to preserve the surprising elements of Q for viewers who aren't aware of it, IMO. The original preview may even be an intentional misdirect with that in mind.

I agree with Warren. The fact that it remained unaltered for the NTV release is telling of what its intended purpose might actually be. If altering the other previews was an attempt to make them more honest as to the film the advertise, the Q preview might be an attempt at dishonesty.

Either that, or the footage is vital to deciphering certain parts of the 14-year time gap. Either way, it’s unaltered state appears to be very important to the filmmakers.

The missing timeskip preview footage didn't air on NTV. A generic CM was aired in its place. See SSD's post with a tweet of screencaps.

Well in any event, a "proper" preview would spoil things for da noobz, so I'm glad there isn't one.

View Original PostRay wrote:Has Anno no shame?

He shouldn't have any! Whether it's a red herring designed to make Q all the more shocking, a glimpse of events between films, or the groundwork for an "aha!" moment that will only be revealed in retrospect, that's a brilliant use of the preview.

The generic CM spoils the shit out of Q. How generic it is is exactly why I'm complaining there isn't a proper preview. They had the opportunity to address the question of whether the original preview matters or not and they did not take it.

May be? I'd say it's almost certain.

Gendo's lines for the CM, similar to another one a few years back, I think.

Obligatory "Anime ja nai!"
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

How could a new preview have told us that?

Why on earth would there have been anything new that previews already released movies? The only one that makes sense to me is a preview of Final at the end of 3.33.
I finally put something here!
