Well, maybe it's a coincidence, or maybe Anno gave us yet another subtle cameo. How did he supposedly expect us to move on from Evangelion if he fills to the brim his movies with little details and subtle cameo worth of the Myst videogames? :headscratch:

Actually, all of these are the names of subatomic particles called Quarks; they are currently the focus of the theories on Quantum Rei.

If you're talking about what I think you're referring to, it was an animation error that got fixed in 3.33.

Actually, I just checked, he's missing the collar until the explosion, and then it magically appears. So I guess it didn't get fixed in 3.33.

That GIF is pretty hilarious by itself. It's like the collar magically teleports onto Shinji's neck, he has a half second of "oh shit!" before it explodes and blows his head off.

No sweat. Shinji is psychically communicating with Rei here. The vision from the first few frames is actually part of a day-dreamscape which Shinji has momentarily entered in order to perform the necessary paranormal feats. In this dreamscape of course, the collar does not exist. The explosion knocks him back to full consciousness of course, and the collar reappears.

If you like, that is. I think it's just a continuity error myself.

I feel like that error was way too big to not be a deliberate choice.... But I may be alone on this one.

There is such a thing as animation errors, and deus ex machina. The number of theories that sprout around these things is ridiculous; it's like the damn disappearing watch from 1.0. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. The animators are not controlled by the MAGI; they can make mistakes.

That's true, but this is such a big error that you'd think someone would catch it while they were making the edits for 3.33, right?

I'm not gonna denied...this looks just a small error...but once i remembered that this happened right before Rei Q telepathy with Shinji.....this thing really became weird...at least suspicious....

Also because we never saw this "telepathy" thing in previous movies and considering the "Angel form" theorythat Shinji may be in 3.0...idk.....we might have some ANNO fingers in there ;P
