With aggressive/exhaustive settings, it could take as long as 24 hours or more for a feature length movie.

Why are you waiting for the 720p version, shouldn't the 1080 be even better?

While that's true, some people just can't run the 1080p version on their computers for whatever reason. I know I barely can, on my 6 year old laptop.

That said, I'm totally ready for this 1080p version; going to enjoy it on my big tv as it plays on my ps3, while drinking tang.

How are you putting it on your PS3? Can it play .mkv files directly from a USB Flash drive?

Also, haven't they already been encoding the 1080p raw for about a day?

Actually, looking it up quickly just now, it does seem as though the ps3 can play .mkv files, but I have no way to research it at the moment (in class).

Just did a bit of searching myself: seems like you jeed to stream the media to the PS3 from a media server with the appropriate codec in order to play the file.

Personally, I think it's a needless hassle when you can just connect most laptops directly to an HDTV using an HDMI or VGA cable. Choice is yours.

Not sure if I'm going to try to download UTW's release directly from their XDCC bots or if I should just wait for seeders and torrent it. Might be a pretty long queue for this one, considering how often UTW's site has been belching up 5xx Server Errors recently....

It's a hassle, It always gave me fits. So I just started converting all mkv's to a more PS3 friendly format, namely mp4.

They'll probably put the .ass file with the subs in the "Scripts" section of their website shortly after the 1080p and 720p releases are out.

If you use the one called Playstation 3 Media Server it's pretty much effortless.
