Yea I'm curious about this too now. Google translate is, as always, freaking unintelligible. Nice find Na7e (and I guess Ornette too!).

what the hell is going on with this film?
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

It's become self-aware. It's changing. Adapting.

Anno looked back, decided he didn't like something, and did a signifigant change? Or it's just the equivelent of 1.11, 2.22 getting a theater showing? Or Anno thought Pokemon was on to something?
I'm not sure what I feel about Eva anymore, but I'm pretty sure I don't actually enjoy the series anymore.

to make edits to your movie during its theatrical run is very drastic. this could be huge. I cant wait for more info on this.

Most likely this, a few added scenes that add up to 3 or so minutes of total movie length and won't change or explain anything else about the original. Kinda takes away some of the excitement of waiting for the BD release.

Wasn't 1.01 in the theatres?

Best case scenario, it's an whole alternate version, that uses the preview scenes from 2.0, in the most amazing surprise Anno has ever pulled. Showing us what we thought we'd be getting at the time. It won't be, but it'd be amazing.

Worst case, it's the same exact thing in 3d.

maby im wrong and please correct me if I am, but I thought it was like this:

1.0 theatrical version
1.01 Theatrical version with no differences except its on DVD
1.11 Final extended version on DVD/BD

2.0 Theatrical version
2.22 Extended version on DVD/BD

Am I missing anything in their? I am very curious if this is right because this is what I thought it was. Also why no 2.02?

1.01 also had serious brightness issues, but yes, it was the home video release of the theatrical movie.

Also, I wonder why Misato still goes by "Captain" ... why not take the plunge and go full "Commander"? Unless she does have a superior (Kaji?).

To be fair,Unit 01 was pretty much the star for the first 2 Movies so they decided to give the other Eva's a chance to shine.

Cel animation in 3d? I can't even comprehend that. It'd literally be cardboard cutouts running around.

I guess it´s not a big change, it would have made more controversial. We dońt even know what is different ... I bet for a minor change like 3d scene or an alternate version of some scene as in 2.22 and the different tsubasa wo kudasai scenes (in bonus)

Maybe it's such a minor difference that no one noticed it yet.
