3.0 Unexplained Stuff Speculation

With the "Mark" Units... Mark.09 is called out by Mari as being "the vessel of an Adam". Mark.06 is said to have had an unusual construction method, and we've speculated it to be modified from an Adam that was blown up the Moon in the geyser of blood that left the stain there.

I don't really understand why all these supposedly "special" units get blown up or half-destroyed without doing anything of significance...

The talk of Mari made me wonder.

What symbolism there might be to Shinji and Koaru - two pilots in one Eva. Two halves to one whole? Then one of them is brutally killed off. Look at what's left.

Then .. the preview for 4.0, which apparently shows a quick flash of a patchwork Eva 02 + 08 fighting ... things. Another dual pilot Eva? It would have to be Asuka and Mari. Both of them have piloted Unit 02 at various times. Both have activated the beast mode.

I'm probably overthinking it.

Don't make any assumptions about Unit 8+2 just yet. One, because as we know, just because it's in the after credits teaser for the next film doesn't mean it's IN the next film.

Also the Gattai Unit could be anything. Sounds like Misato's group being very Earth friendly and recycling what's left of their two Evas after 3.0 to make a new one.

I'm confused if it was the Mark.06 Spear of Cassius or something else. I guess it can't be the Spear of Cassius or Spear of Longinus if they're within Lilith or Mark.06 or what have you.

One more question from me: Japanese wikipedia claims we're dealing with Rei 3 in Q.

Regarding the previous work, it differs in that Rei was taken into* Eva-01's core. The third Yui clone "Ayanami Rei (temporary name)" appears.

*Same word from the 2.0 Preview about Shinji and Rei.

Is this most likely the case considering there are similarities between Q and the Bitter End arc? I guess this means Rei 2 and Yui's souls are within Eva-01's core? Did their souls possibly merge or we just don't know what's the deal with Rei 2 and Yui yet?

I wonder if Rei's soul in Rebuild is still Lilith's... Assuming Eva-01 is Lilith's clone, wouldn't that make 01 the "complete" (though not physically the real one) Lilith?

So, Eva-01 started some kind of Impact event that, according to Ritsuko, would destroy all old life in favor of something new. All of these glowing red Evas, along with the annihilation of the Tokyo-3 populace, might be connected: perhaps the Evas were new, "deified" bodies partially formed out of Angel goo (which is provided in abundance at such impacting events; cf. 2I). All of Tokyo-3's residents would have been reborn into them, had the process not been aborted. But because Eva-01 was stopped, this army of Evas simply lay in ruin like so many aborted fetuses.

This is pretty much what I thought as well. This also explains the Eva-sized skulls at the cross of Lilith. They were probably piled there sometime during the 14 year time skip considering the unlikely event a large number of people were near the cross of Lilith during Third Impact, but that has probably been said already in this thread somewhere. I don't think we know if Third Impact turned everyone around the world into an Evangelion or if it was just relegated to Tokyo 3, but I can't keep up with everything here. In any case, this seems to define WILL-E's mission much more.

I have a suspicion about Mari and Kaji. I think this Wille organization was in the works for a while now, and they were members long before everything went to shit. But who knows.

This would dovetail nicely with the fact we still don't know anything about from whom or what Mari was working for in 2.0

I'm wondering if this could explain the enormous chalk outline seen right at the start of 1.0, that looked vaguely like an MP Eva. If the Impacts in Rebuild reformat existing life into a new form, then perhaps Second Impact did the same, and the outline was from one of the corpses.

What thoughts do people have on the coffin that Kaworu emerged from on the moon? With 4 already being opened. I went back and counted the angels having appeared before that.

There are three angels in the first movie. And Tunniel is most likely already captured and being researched on. Does anyone else think its possible that SEELE are somehow in control of the Angels and are releasing them on demand?

This raises the question of how Instrumentality will happen in FINAL without Lilith. Unit 01 has to be important still somehow in the grand scheme of things considering Gendo and Fuyutsuki said their plans were almost finished when it went all God-mode. So they must have plans for it... but it's being used for the WILL-E ship.

I think we have to fine with things not making sense at this point in the plot.

Admit it really makes sense tho. The fact that 4 coffins are open, which is the exact same number as angels having appeared on earth. And the fact that yet another angel appears from coffin nr. 5 is a very strong coincidence otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, I support the one coffin per angel theory, but it wouldn't make sense to send them to earth to destroy almost everything multiple times, if they could just shrug them off and set instrumentality in motion.

Watched the Kaworu waking up scene again. And the fact that a SEELE image is there right as he wakes up does imply that they are very involved in process. Kaworu says:"Now we enter the general phase of plan, yes?"
The SEELE is also talking about how "The Dead Sea Scroll Apocrypha have been fulfilled up to the Books of law". So perhaps they are releasing angels in order to follow a prophecy?

Correct. Though, as of Evangelion 3.0, SEELE no longer exists. As we find out that its members were 'euthanized' and their monoliths destroyed. The primary antagonist in R:EVA is now NERV, led by commander Ikari.
