Pretty sure Ornette said he had to give it a miss this time because he just had the wedding and what not.

I'll be going. The ticket prices dropped significantly which is surprising, was cheaper buying tix 3 weeks before the trip than it was 3 months before, by like $500. So was able to make last minute plans whereas before, there was no way to plan more than a month ahead.

Nice! You're lucky Q wasn't premiering in the summer; those ticket prices would have been astronomically high!

I was there for 2.0's premiere, which was in June, and it wasn't any more expensive. 1.0's trip back in September of 2007 was probably the most expensive ticket. It matters immensely what days you fly in and out of (weekends being the most expensive) by an order of $1500 or so, all during the same week.

Huh. Maybe I'm just used to the peak prices for tickets to Italy. We go every summer to visit extended family, and the plane tickets usually run around $1,500-$2,000 each.

Hi guys, I have a favor to ask. Are any of you who are going to see 3.0 in theaters planning on seeing it at a United Cinema theater? I recently came across this ad;

http://www.unitedcinemas.jp/img/information/image2/8/875.jpg

And there were a couple of the items I wanted to purchase. I have a "guy in Japan" but he lives too far from a theater from this chain to help out. If you can, pm me and I'll let you know what I'm looking for. Thanks, I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules asking this here.....

So there really isn't a chance that subtitles would be shown?

Why would they subtitle domestic film release for domestic audience?

You might as well wonder why Hollywood films don't automatically come with, say, Spanish subtitles

Well, I don't think we have to wait too long. If I remember right, within a month of 2.0's release, there was an english subtitled print meant for the film festival circut.

Watch out for Robin Williams. He yells at the screen.

Also to the original poster of this thread, Spiderman is cool, 3.0 will be showing for at least 4-6 months in Japan. Japanese theatres and in general Japanese movies tend to be screened for a very very long time. Please be aware that the Japanese film industry is much smaller than the hollywood industry in North America. So naturally less films will be screened in Japanese theatres, thus leading to a longer screening time. So even if you miss seeing it in November or December. You'll probably still be able to see Evangelion 3.0 well into February and March of next year. Of course, I doubt any eva fan would want to wait that long in the first place!

Awesome. Means I can scope your review/synopsis out and verify what the hell I actually see on screen, haha.

A few cinemas in Tokyo showed Innocence with English subtitles when it was released in 2004.
Possibly Steamboy as well, but not sure about that one.
