Nicovideo exited from economy mode some hours ago but unlike the previous trailer this one is still in low resolution (512x384).

And when it's something I won't get around to watching for about another 5-6 years, after the belated UK edition of 4.0, it's way too soon to get hyped.

The trailer was amazing! I was wondering if Anno would showcase any new characters before the movie came out. I think most of them will be IPEA personnel who basically take over what's left of Nerv HQ while the staff is detained. I'm going to assume that's Mari piloting the pink Eva Unit, probably helping Asuka out in the fight against whatever Angel comes next.

will have the image breakdown up soon, and something I noticed was that they had that eye/vagina thing in the new trailer with what appears to be snow moving by, so an arctic base may appear again or a 2nd impact flashback.

The hand is Kaworu's. He's closing the lid of Shinji's SDAT player. The player is on the floor for some reason, maybe in Shinji's room with the bed. He seems to be freaking out so he could have thrown it there.

With any luck 3.0 is going to follow that example! So far, the aesthetics of the surrounding environments (it's cliche to say but they're almost Kubrick-esque) hint the fun times of school & friendly dinners are past.

I noted the 2001 vibes that Shinji shot was giving to me. Another reason why it might happen on moon - the whole place has smelled of 2001 since 1.0

She's the least 90s looking character in Eva - Eva cast is as vintage (GOOD) 90s character design as you can get. She fits two molds: 80s revivalism and Diebuster-era Sadamoto which is already in 00s.

I just noticed that EVA-02 misses one of it's four eyes. The right half of it's face is covered in supplemental armor, leaving the right top eye visible and the bottom orange one sealed in an orange plug. It's left arm seems to be of purely mechanical nature too. The wires and such are plainly visible. Guess this was some quick-fixin'

Ive always held the notion since the first 'In Space' trailer that Unit 2's been jury-rigged with spare parts from the wrecked Unit 3.

Now, let's see the trailers' hints.

1. Asuka is not dying. If anything, she'll be getting "Ramielized" by the new angel and not liking it. The pic in the cap does seem she's acting cool, and playing Aizen with the whole "This is getting legit" face.

2. The film won't have Tabgha featured prominently. Instead, it seems like it's either on-board the aircraft carrier or in a base with launch systems, as the rocket is clearly seen going upwards. Looks like we'll be returning to T3 after the action dies down a bit (The pact scene may be minutes before the end of the movie and seems symbolic... perhaps NERV and/or IPEA are rebelling against Seele/each other?)

3. Either Mari and IPEA are the good guys (and 08 is how they respond to 6) or Mari is betraying them and using it for good (or it's 07).

4. Pinkie seems like a NERV high ranking operative, the pauldrons look too formal to be a simple uniform change and her pose just suggests she's issuing a command.

5. The brunette may be a new character or young Misato (young Yui) has short hair. However, if Anno wants to go the awesome way, perhaps it's what happens after Kaworu neutralizes EVA 01. My crack prediction is that instead of Shinji and Rei, 01 absorbs Rei and ends up expelling YUI instead. Hence why "Yui" gets (probably) translated.
