Well, that would be really nice, but I do really think, that FINAL won't be released before October and leading up to it, they're going to release the BD of 3.33 one month before the theatrical release at most. To promote the leading up finale, as they do with the new Manga-Volume of the Eva-Manga.

3.0 DVD/BD: April/May 2013
4.0 Theatrical: Fall 2013
4.0 DVD/BD: April/May 2014

It's still gonna suck to wait that long, but that's better than some other options.

And we also have the inevitable 3.33 to wait for as well. Which will take even longer to get here.

Since 1.11's Japanese DVD/BD release was May 27, 2009 (1.01 DVD was April 25, 2008) and 2.22's DVD/BD release was May 26, 2010, my assumption is that 3.33's DVD/BD release will be May 26 or 27, 2013. Which is around 7-8 months after the theatrical release.

I'm guessing that in 2013, Sadamoto's final(?) volume of the manga (Volume 14??) will be released the same month that FINAL premieres in Japanese theaters--similar to how NGE Volume 13 and 3.0/Q are both released in November 2012.

As for seeing 3.0 or 4.0 in Japanese theaters, I'm sure it'd be a blast, but unless I win the lottery neither is bloody likely.

Will be in Japan from Nov 17-30 so I plan on seeing it a couple of times :D

Saw 2.0 as well and that completely blew our minds, especially since we walked into it cold having seen no trailers or promotional material beforehand.

I disagree, I say the first Saw was better.

Do Japanese theaters have as much... stuff in front of their screenings as in the States? You know, not only previews but TV advertisements, "screw you texters!" PSAs and such? Can you arrive 20 minutes late to a Japanese film and be OK?

To anyone who is actually going to see it, can I ask one thing, see it at least twice. Once for your enjoyment and the second time so that you can write down as many important plot points, make a spoiler thread, and help me regain my sanity. WAITING. SUCKS.

Got to get into gear and book my ticket this week. It's only a matter of weeks now. Will probably have to get my Japanese teacher or my friend to help, as the site I have to use is pretty confusing.

I'm sure there will be a few Japanese synopses of the film on the net after the 17th. We'll just have to ask someone like Numbers-kun to kindly translate them for us, haha. Then we can compare those notes to those of the people who are seeing the film, I guess.

I'm looking forward to being thoroughly confused, yet completely blown away at the same time.

Ornette saw both 1.0 and 2.0 in Japanese theaters at least twice or three times. So assuming he'll see 3.0 in Japan, no worries there. He gave us a synopsis (spoiler-free on the main news page and spoiler-filled in the forums) on 2.0's opening day.

It's getting less and less likely that I'll be able to make it for 3.0. When the date was announced I was knee-deep in wedding planning so didn't have time to work out a schedule, and now the tickets are kind of pricey. I also can't go this time without my significant other so I have to convince her sooner than later.

Do it for the honey moon you can get tickets for very small prices with world ventures. And i hope you enjoyed the wedding.

Would there be any benefit to seeing the movie more than once besides understanding what's going on. I.e. are there any promos or schwag to be had (besides the program) at certain screenings other than at the premiere?

@Ornette: Congratulations! So there will be 2 weddings? (since you mentioned one on the 2nd of this month)

Some theatres have theatrical programs or promo stuff that's limited to 1 per ticket holder. But in both instances, I was able to go to the theatre a week or 2 after and just buy whatever was left over, but some venues sold out and was never going to get more.

Only 1 wedding, when 3.0's release date was announced I was busy and didn't have any time to plan a trip. You need to book your flight several months in advance otherwise it gets exponentially more expensive. Unless there's some kind of deal that pops up.

I don't remember as many commercials, the Wald 9 cinema in Shinjuku had some hilarious PSA at the start though.

Here's hoping that it won't take long for the people who record and translate to get it up on the web long enough for us to get a glimpse of it. I was really happy when someone managed to post a subtitled version of 2.0 when it came out and got to see just how amazing it was. Only problem for us who don't understand Japanese fully is hearing spoilers online about what happened before we actually see it.

I am hoping my mom doesn't have any patients to deal with in November. That and she might have school but if not I will beg her to book a trip to Japan so I can see 3.0.

Updated dates of travel are now 20-29 November. Flights were way cheaper this way as they fall under a sales period for the carrier. Less than half the usual price, fuck yeah.

Probably going to go see the movie in Shibuya now on the 22nd, as the two complexes there are really easy to get to (And I know where they are, haha), on top of the fact we're just going to be there on the day. I'm a casual/loose itinerary kind of guy.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to advance order tickets though for these two places. The Toho one is only selling for the dates 17 and 18, which makes sense:
http://hlo.tohotheater.jp/net/schedule/043/TNPI2000J01.do

The Toei one in Shibuya doesn't seem to sell tickets online at all. So I'm thinking if I can't get them beforehand, I may just walk in the morning of[?]. Whatever.

Tips, anyone? I'm looking at those who've done this for Jō/1.0 and Ha/2.0, haha.

I never said she was rich. In fact I wouldn't say we are rich at all, she just does a business called world ventures that has cheap vacations and such. So that doesn't make us rich at all. Just preservative with money and such.

EDIT: And I hope in the future you don't try to classify me as a spoiled kid who get everything he wants because truly you would be incorrect.
