G'sPapa: Those who have access to the article haven't said much about it (so far; the OP said that he intended to translate some things, but would be busy). I can't tell offhand from the photos which blurbs are interviews and which ones aren't, though maybe I can sniff around the Jap Web for info later.

I'm in the middle of moving, making a film, and my computer just decided now was the best time to crap out on me so I've had to travel back and forth to Osaka to get her fixed.

I'm pretty much doing all my stuff on my phone for now so once I'm up and running again I'll try and get as much stuff out as I can.

hey, maybe if we here at EvaGeeks pulled together enough dough and got some interpretors, we could convince Kadokawa Shoten to give us all a shot at a new Newtype America, the Yen's appreciation post-Sendai/Fukushima is not helping Japanese exports and they may jump at the chance of trying to tap the Americas again in this current environment

IIRC as it began production, Rebuild was first made publicly known via Newtype around the end of 2006, which included a tentative release schedule for 1.0 and 2.0, and 2.0 was subsequently pushed back a few times with some spoilers on new characters and Evangelions here and there via press releases

I would think 3.0 would be formally announced either via a press release, a teaser trailer, and/or a combination of both

That's an understatement. I think it was more of Studio Khara like "Here some 3.0 infor-LOL NOPE" I realize making a movie isn't exactly the easiest thing on earth but the wait is just BS. We could at least get a picture or something.

The Rebuild movies just don't work as standalone films. The pacing is downright schizophrenic, and supporting characters and subplots from the original are tossed around yet never used because there isn't enough time. The only way to really appreciate the Rebuild films is to have seen the original series. There's an argument to be made that that's the point, but if we are to believe Anno's claims that Rebuild is intended to bring in a new audience and function on its own as a ground-up remake of the original series, then, well, I think the first two films have failed. They sure are purty though.

I can't agree. My cousin has only seen Rebuild and he loves it. He'd never even heard of Evangelion before I brought 1.11 over. I've only seen the original series once almost a decade ago, and I love Rebuild too. Neither of us find it confusing or feel we're missing out on important things.

To be fair, the fans were assuming that it was going to be news about Q when Newtype and Studio Khara had statements saying it was a "Studio Khara" feature, nothing indicating that it was going to be about Q's development. But the fact that Anno came out and said "Please wait a bit longer" and we now have some general information about Khara and their business practices, it probably means we will be seeing information about Q within the year. So it's really not all that bad. We've waited almost 2 years, we can wait (I'm assuming what would hopefully only be) a few more months.

Also, what, Shikinami in a new plugsuit isn't good enough as a brand-new picture for you?

I agree that the new films are accessible to those who haven't seen NGE before (which was part of Anno's mission statement anyway). My stepsister and I saw 1.0 dubbed in theaters, she's never seen Eva before, yet she found 1.0 to be pretty interesting. Besides, the new movies help bring in new fans who might want to eventually check out the original work. IIRC, even here at EGF we have a few forum members who first discovered the new movies (either 1.xx or 2.xx) then saw the original series later on.

Yup, my sisters were also lured in when I wanted to try out my new 1.X DVD and they asked me if they could watch it too.
After that, they kept bugging me to show them the next film/ the TV Series.

I don't know if that's fair. They didn't explicitly promise us anything about 3.0. WE were the ones pushing that hype, mostly.

Depending on what form Rei is in at the end of 2.22, you may literally be able to float a boat on her.

Does CRC happen to say anything about the process from collective brain power to finalized product, I wonder? As well as the order of what's done when in comparison to NGE production?

If it does, it's buried inside the interviews. I'm completely useless here, except for providing the text to somebody more skillful.
