Evangelion 2.22 release date: 03/29/11

funimation release is region AB on blu-ray

very dissapointed with packaging as I wanted it to be similar to funimation's 1.11 blu-ray with the good quality card case with the foil effect finish

Yeah... but without English subs, most likely. Still don't know why they don't do it. Surely the cost can't be that great, and they've gotta know there are plenty of western fans who would pay for a set that has subbed extras. I don't see the downside.

Yes, one of them is Europe.

I'll probably buy BDs whenever Studio Khara releases the inevitable four-film boxset with shitloads of extras. You just know it's going to happen at some point.

Just going to put this out there. There is not a Macross movie box set yet and not everything gets a box set. Ideon's movies are JUST getting a two movie box set release in Japan.

I'd say Neon Genesis Evangelion has more chance of getting a BD Box than Rebuild at this point.

While NGE and NME are different continuities, the Evangelion franchise has been milked to death AND re-released constantly (in Japan or the States--just look at ADV with Platinum re-re-releases!).

I think a boxset release, either DVD or BD, is inevitable for NME. (For whatever it's worth: after the single volume Renewal DVDs were released in Japan, there were 1 or 2 boxsets released of Renewal!)

Anyway, I just hope my 2.22 DVD gets here safe and sound without any stupid manufacturer errors on it.

I don't mind the artwork and that it's closer to the Japanese release, I'm just mildly annoyed there's no consistency with 1.11 and 2.22 now. :irked:

Oh well, I guess.

I assumed only Khara would be doing a boxset release, not Funimation...Although if Funimation is following the Japanese release format as best as possible, then maybe.

Oh, did anybody who got their DVD/BD already receive a vinyl sticker or window cling along with it?

im not to annoyed about the artwork, similar opinion as you

I think it should have atleast been a card slip case like the 1.11 release so it could atleast stand side by side and look consistant

I'm not a big fan of digipak packaging (as Eva 1.11 used) but I do wish they would have keep it consistent. Then again, there's going to be a long time until 3.33 comes out on video (2013?) so it's not a pressing concern for me. I'll just cope.

According to another forum I joined, regardless of how nice Funi's 2.22 flap cover is, it's actually pretty cumbersome. :sweatdrop:

I'm 100% certain once Rebuild is finished we'll be getting "Fully Completed Boxsets" of the films on both sides of the Pacific. I also wouldn't be surprised if Khara/Gainax, for one last paycheck at the bank will put a few additions into every film.

An Evangelion 1.5 perhaps? Or an Evangelion 2.222? What about Evangelion 3.99? Evangelion 4.PERFECT?

I feel somewhat antsy I haven't heard anything yet about my 2.22-DVD order from Amazon, but I guess they don't ship stuff out super-early like Rightstuf does. I can wait another week or so I guess. :asuka_sad:

Nope. Amazon never ships things early. I dont recall them ever doing that in all the times I've ordered from them. It kinda sucks but it's no big deal.
