No seriously, I have heard the news. All I have to say is WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

No really. I bought a PS3 because I couldn't take not being able to play my fresh copy of MGS4, but I also relished the idea that I could for sure be able to play FFXIII since before I only had an Xbox 360. Now this really blows. For the moment, I'll still buy it for my PS3 when it comes out, just because.

I'd imagine FFXIII would have even more content to fill discs up than MGS4. If it had two blue rays, could you imagine how many discs the 360 version will have?

You know, what ever. I have a Xbox 360 elite and a PS3 80gb, so hard drive space isn't a problem. I'll just wait for the reviews and see which version is better. I'd put my money on the PS3 version, though.

This is great news for me. I've always wanted to play a real Final Fantasy (none of this Crystal Chronicles nonsense), but didn't want to shell out the cash for a PS3. And now I don't have to! Woo-hoo!

I really haven't been playing much of the Final Fantasy games lately or keeping track of them. I've played all of 7, and some of 8, 9 and 10 as well as an earlier one via emulator.

I enjoy the games and everything, but either I end up getting stuck and not knowing where to go next (which is where I'm at in 9 from what I remember), or I simply lose the time to play/have other priorities. I don't even have a PS3, so I don't really care about this happening, at the moment anyway.

I'm keeping an eye on what Sony's got up their sleeves at E3 right now. If they can't drop something serious, then the PS3 has lost this year... again.

Losing FFXIII is a huge blow, to be sure, but Sony isn't stupid - they had to know this was coming. I think they'll do something to make up for such a loss of exclusivity.

To be honest, I'm regarding Square-Enix with disdain. This is the second time they've jumped ship and while it makes good business sense, it's downright dirty in my opinion.

First numerical FF in 5 titles to be offered on another manufacturer's system (other than PC)... Oh well, at least they didn't pull a PS/N64 and not even put out the title on the system they had initially developed it for, so I guess that's something.

I stand by my opinion. Also, exclusives are not stupid, as they are what can make or break a deal in regards to a specific console. Competition is what makes great games and great innovation.

Software competition makes better games, not hardware competition. At least, not when you're talking about two consoles that are almost identical anyway.

Just because many games are put out on both systems does not mean they are identical. Far from it.

In most cases the 360 version is developed first, then ported to PS3. The reason is because games initially developed for the PS3 are built using completely different architechture. I'm not trying to start a console war here, but the PS3 is considerably more powerful, which is one of the reasons why a 360 version is made first and very few PS3 games are ported to 360.

Then there's the fact that Blu-Ray games hold upwards of 50GB of storage, meaning very many discs must be used for 360 versions (see: Lost Odyssey).

Yes, I know about FFXIII, and to be completely truthful, I'm very interested in seeing how it will work out. As far as I know, the White Engine being used by XIII was built specifically with the PS3's Cell processor in mind.

I'm no fanboy, but it does hurt A LOT to know you spent $500 on something you could have NOT spent it on. I know MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive, BUT I am the type who's gonna buy a system ONLY if there's several exclusive games on it that I want. MGS4 and FFXIII were the two games I was planning on my PS3 coming in handy on, and maybe some other stuff.

@Xard: By the way, I'm pretty sure a lot of people who bought PS3's to play FFXIII are not fan boys. That dolt who wrote that post might like Final Fantasy a little much.

Yeah, I have to agree, Rooster.

The PS3 can be a huge pain to develop for, but the truth of the matter is, it's all up to developer preference. Each and every developer who has said the PS3 is a pain to make games for has been making a port. They started with 360 and went on to the PS3, and like I said, they are not the same.

It's like making a program which is compatible with both Windows and Macs. Sure they can do it, but one will come out before the other because the two are different and they have to start somewhere.

Is that actually in the works? The last I heard is that after the remastered intro of FF7 on PS3, everybody got there hopes up and eventually Square Enix had to publically deny they were orking on a remake, no word since. They really should remake and release it on both consoles...it would make sense from a commercial point of view and rebuild there reputation after the debacle that was F.F.12.
